The invention has an object of providing a printing device and a method of controlling the printing device each capable of reducing the number of signal lines necessary for the connection to the circuit board for controlling the head drive circuit. The printing device includes an input/output section adapted to perform input and output of data, a drive circuit adapted to perform printing based on the data from the input/output section, and output the data, which is input from the input/output section, to the input/output section, and a switching section adapted to switch an input direction and an output direction of the data to the drive circuit in accordance with a switching signal, the drive circuit is provided with a first input section and a second input section to which the data is input, a first output section adapted to output the data from the first output section to the input/output section, and a second output section adapted to output the data from the second input section to the input/output section, and the switching section switches, in accordance with the switching signal, between a state in which the data from the input/output section is input to the first input section while the data input to the first input section fails to be output to the input/output section, and a state in which the data from the input/output section is input to the second input section while the data input to the second input section fails to be output to the input/output section.

According to one embodiment, an inkjet head includes a pressure chamber connected to a nozzle, an actuator configured to change a pressure in the pressure chamber, and a controller configured to apply an expansion signal to the actuator for expanding the pressure chamber, apply, subsequent to at least one expansion signal, a contraction signal to the actuator for contracting the pressure chamber, and apply, while the pressure chamber is contracted, an intermediate signal for contracting the pressure chamber by less than the contraction signal contracts the pressure chamber.

Accessing registers of fluid ejection devices

An integrated circuit to drive a plurality of fluid actuation devices includes a status register, a plurality of interfaces, and control logic. The plurality of interfaces include a mode interface, a data interface, and a fire interface. The control logic enables reading of the status register in response to a signal on the mode interface transitioning to logic high with a logic high signal on the data interface, and transitioning a signal on the fire interface to logic high with the signal on the single data interface floating.

The wiring substrate includes a plurality of second common wirings connected to each of the first common wirings of the plurality of piezoelectric element rows, and a plurality of auxiliary wirings buried in a groove portion formed in the wiring substrate. The auxiliary wirings are connected to each of the second common wirings, and the plurality of auxiliary wirings are not connected to each other.

The inkjet print head includes an inkjet nozzle array wherein each nozzle in the array is configured to communicate with a data signal line.
