A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting head configured to eject liquid from a nozzle onto a medium to perform printing, a liquid accommodating unit configured to receive, via an opening, the liquid ejected by empty discharging that ejects the liquid from the liquid ejecting head separately from the printing, a cover movable to a closed position where the opening of the liquid accommodating unit is covered and an open position where the opening is opened, and a detection unit configured to detect the cover positioned at the closed position or the open position.

PRINTING APPARATUS, AND CONTROL METHOD

A printing apparatus includes: a cap member configured to be switched between a capped state in which an ink discharge port of a printhead is covered by the cap member and a non-capped state; a conveyance unit configured to convey a print medium to the printhead; and a cutting unit configured to cut the print medium on which an image is formed by the printhead. A cutting setting for operating the cutting unit can be set in advance based on a cutting instruction of a user. In a case in which the cutting setting is set, the cap member waits for the cutting instruction in the non-capped state, and the cap member is switched to the capped state when a wait time for the cutting instruction reaches a predetermined time.

RECORDING SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD FOR RECORDING SYSTEM

A maintenance operation can be executed by ejecting a liquid when a time measured with reference to displacement of a cap from a maintenance position to a separation position exceeds a defined time. Before start of a recording operation in a recording job, a first medium waits at a standby position where the medium can wait upstream of a liquid ejection head. The cap is located at the separation position when a first medium in the recording job is waiting at the standby position. During an initial control period, in parallel with the maintenance operation, a post-processing operation can be executed on a second number of media that is smaller than a first number of media, and a post-processing operation can be executed on the first number of media in parallel with the maintenance operation after end of the initial control period.

Compliant printhead locating apparatus for a print module

A single pass inkjet printer that utilizes a modular printing system with one or more self-contained printing modules, where each printing module is easy to remove and replace from a large printing machine, thus resulting in an overall system that is easy to service and maintain Each module is a self-contained printer including an ink supply, printhead drive electronics, and printhead assembly in order to provide one color or fluid of inkjet printing capability. Each module includes a precise three-point compliant self-aligning mount system to obtain accurate printhead positioning, and a unique integrated printhead tending system that includes a compact movable vacuum knife for cleaning the printheads, and a printhead capping station for sealing and protecting the printheads from the ambient environment when not in use.

Moving device, moving method and printing apparatus

Both end parts of a cord are fixed to a maintenance mounting frame, and an intermediate part of the cord is laid on a first body-side rotating member, a head-side rotating member and a second body-side rotating member. Here, when a motor is driven, the movement restriction of the cord is released and a movement of a head mounting frame is restricted, whereby only the maintenance mounting frame moves together with a maintenance part while the movement of the head mounting frame is restricted. Further, when the motor is driven, a movement of the cord is restricted and the movement restriction of the head mounting frame is released, whereby only the head mounting frame moves together with a discharge head while a movement of the maintenance part is restricted.

LIQUID DISCHARGE APPARATUS

There is provided a liquid discharge apparatus including: a liquid discharge head, a carriage, a carriage moving mechanism, a carriage motor, an output unit outputting a discharge determination signal, and a controller configured to carry out a determination of whether or not a liquid is discharged normally from the nozzle, based on the discharge determination signal outputted from the output unit when the liquid discharge head carries out an inspection driving. If a first condition is satisfied, then after a carriage drive in order to move the carriage to a predetermined position, the inspection driving is performed. If a second condition other than the first condition is satisfied, then the inspection driving is performed without performing the carriage drive.

A recording portion has a nozzle surface. A first movement portion moves the recording portion in a first direction intersecting the nozzle surface. A second movement portion moves a first maintenance portion in a second direction along the nozzle surface. The recording portion is movable to a recording position at which recording is performed on a medium, and a first retreated position where the recording portion is retreated from the recording position. The first maintenance portion is movable to a maintenance position at which maintenance of the nozzle surface is performed and a second retreated position retreated from the maintenance position. When an error occurs, a control portion causes the recording portion to retreat away from the first maintenance portion in a first direction. Then, the first maintenance portion is caused to retreat in a second direction.

The amount of ink in a cap at the time of end of printing initiated by a print command is estimated, and it is determined whether an open suction action is to be performed based on the estimated post-printing ink amount to prevent spillover of the ink and reduce downtime due to the open suction action.

Print head lock

An example apparatus includes a gear comprising a gear hub; a swing-arm rotationally engaged with the gear hub; and a spring circumferentially engaged with the gear hub and the swing-arm to apply a radial clamping force between the swing-arm and the gear hub. Torque is frictionally coupled from the gear hub to the swing-arm to lock a capped print head assembly (PHA) in a non-printing location.
