A liquid ejecting device includes a transporting belt that has a support surface capable of supporting a medium and that can transport the medium in a first direction, an ejecting unit that can eject a liquid onto a first surface of the medium transported by the transporting belt, a regulating unit that comes into contact with the first surface of the medium ejected with the liquid by the ejecting unit and that regulates upward movement of the medium, and a cleaning unit that cleans the regulating unit.

Provided is a recording head cleaning device, a recording head cleaning method, and a recording device, with which a cleaning liquid from a nozzle is prevented from being mixed and a nozzle surface is cleaned. The problem is solved with a recording head cleaning device including a cleaning liquid holding unit that has a cleaning liquid holding surface, a cleaning liquid applying portion that applies a cleaning liquid to the cleaning liquid holding surface, a cleaning unit that cleans a nozzle surface of a recording head, in which a nozzle jetting an ink is disposed, with the cleaning liquid held by the cleaning liquid holding surface by making the cleaning liquid holding surface and the nozzle surface face each other, the nozzle surface with the cleaning liquid held by the cleaning liquid holding surface, and a back pressure control unit that sets a back pressure of the nozzle in a case of cleaning the nozzle surface to −800 pascals to −200 pascals.

There is provided a maintenance apparatus for an image recording apparatus provided with a head having a nozzle configured to discharge a liquid. The maintenance apparatus includes: a foam configured to absorb the liquid discharged from the nozzle; an accommodating box which is opened upwardly and which accommodates the foam; and a plate configured to cover an upper part of the accommodating box. The plate has an opening configured to expose a part of an upper surface of the foam in a state that the plate is locked to the accommodating box.

There is provided a maintenance apparatus for an image recording apparatus provided with a head having a nozzle configured to discharge a liquid. The maintenance apparatus includes: a foam configured to absorb the liquid discharged from the nozzle; and an accommodating box which is opened upwardly and which accommodates the foam. An inner bottom surface of the accommodating box has a projection supporting a bottom surface of the foam so that the bottom surface of the foam is positioned separated from the inner bottom surface of the accommodating box.

An inkjet printing device including: an ink storage unit configured to store an ink; an ejection head having a nozzle configured to eject the ink to a printing material; a heating unit configured to heat the printing material; and a washing unit configured to wash a nozzle-formed surface of the head with a washing liquid, wherein the ink is a clear ink including a resin, the device has a low gloss printing mode that is a printing mode for applying low gloss and a high gloss printing mode that is a printing mode for applying high gloss, and the inkjet printing device satisfies: T.sub.matte>T.sub.gloss where T.sub.matte (degrees Celsius) is a temperature of the heating unit when printing is performed with the low gloss printing mode, and T.sub.gloss (degrees Celsius) is a temperature of the heating unit when printing is performed with the high gloss printing mode.

A liquid discharging device includes a liquid discharging head including a nozzle and having a nozzle forming surface, the liquid discharging head configured to discharge a liquid through the nozzle, a wiping member configured to wipe the nozzle forming surface, the wiping member having a first layer configured to be brought into contact with the nozzle forming surface and at least one more layer, and a cleaning liquid that is applied to the nozzle forming surface, wherein the static surface tension of the cleaning liquid is greater than the static surface tension of the liquid.

A cleaning device includes: a cleaning member that comes into contact with a cleaning subject member and cleans the cleaning subject member using a liquid; and a liquid supply member that holds the liquid on a surface that is in contact with the cleaning member and supplies the held liquid to the cleaning member via the surface. The liquid supply member includes a plurality of holders that hold a different amount of liquid from each other in the surface.

An ink set includes an inkjet ink and a cleaning solution. The inkjet ink contains a first aqueous medium, a carbon black, a dispersing resin, a first zwitterionic surfactant having an amidoalkylbetaine structure, and a first sugar alcohol. The carbon black has an oil absorption number of at least 130 mL/100 g and no greater than 165 mL/100 g. A ratio of a content of the dispersing resin to a content of the carbon black is at least 12.0% by mass and no greater than 19.0% by mass. The cleaning solution contains a second aqueous medium, a second zwitterionic surfactant having an amidoalkylbetaine structure, and a second sugar alcohol.

A wiper for wiping a nozzle surface of a liquid discharge head that discharges liquid from the nozzle is provided. The wiper comprises a plurality of layers including at least a first layer, and the first layer has a surface that contacts the nozzle surface. The surface that contacts the nozzle surface has a maximum height of waviness Wz of from 100 to 600 μm.

A system for cleaning printheads used for printing on a roll of web product is provided herein. The system includes at least one printhead configured to print ink on the roll of web product to form a roll of printed web product, and a cleaning device comprising a wipe. The system further includes a controller configured to perform a cleaning operation by causing application of a cleaning additive to a portion of the wipe and causing the cleaning device to translate across the printhead to cause the portion of the wipe to be wiped across the printhead to clean the printhead. The wipe is applied with a fluid, such as water, or a non-wetted cleaning product. Multiple passes of the cleaning device can be utilized, such as where the portion of the wipe has different or no cleaning additives. Cleaning assistance, such as vibration or heat, can be utilized.
