A glove is provided and includes a cuff providing an opening to the glove. A back panel defines a first portion of finger sheaths and a thumb sheath and extends along the finger sheaths and the thumb sheath to the cuff. A palm panel is disposed on an opposite side of the glove from the back panel and defines a second portion of the finger sheaths and the thumb sheath. The palm panel is formed from a material having a greater coefficient of friction than a material of the back panel and extends along the finger sheaths and the thumb sheath to the cuff. The palm panel tapers in a direction from the finger sheaths to the cuff. A gusset extends between and is attached to the back panel and the palm panel and is formed from a different material than the back panel and the palm panel.

A disclosed method for manufacturing a glove includes forming a base via molding, the base being shaped to include a palm portion and one or more extremity portions. The method also includes forming a top skin via molding, the top skin including one or more compartments, and forming a backhand assembly by attaching one or more edges of the one or more compartments of the top skin to the base. At least one remaining edge of each of the one or more compartments is unattached from the base. The method also includes reversing an orientation of the backhand assembly, filling each of the one or more compartments of the top skin with foam, and attaching the at least one remaining edge of each of the one or more compartments to the base.

The back rubber protection layer includes a finger rubber layer disposed at a back of a finger of the glove, a palm-back rubber layer disposed at a back of a palm of the glove body, and a root knuckle rubber layer disposed between the finger rubber layer and the palm-back rubber layer for protecting a knuckle. The finger rubber layer and the root knuckle rubber layer are independently formed by injection molding.
