A tire pressure detector with protection shell is applied to a wheel. The wheel has a rim having an air tap and a tire mounted around the rim, with an air pressure space formed between the tire and the rim. The tire pressure detector includes a shell and a detector body. The shell is movably disposed in the air pressure space, and the detector body is disposed in a housing space of the shell. The detector body is includes a detection module for detecting the air pressure in the air pressure space, generating a pressure signal, and wirelessly transmitting the pressure signal. Therefore, by improving the structural strength of the tire pressure detector with the shell, the tire pressure detector is conveniently installed without the need of other additional tools.

Disclosed are various embodiments of permanent active sensors in a tire achieved by partially embedding a sensor component in a green tire and adding a removable power source after the tire is cured. The printed circuit board can be encapsulated in the rubber of the tire with a power source housing connected to the electronics through the rubber. In another aspect, the printed circuit board can be directly connected to the power source housing. The sensor interlocks with the rubber of the tire. Various structural features of the sensor, such as a flange or channels for the rubber, can be used to secure the sensor in the rubber of the tire.

In this embodiment, the method includes receiving an acknowledgement from a sensor and determining whether one or more signal attributes indicated in the acknowledgement are within one or more predefined ranges for the one or more signal attributes and corresponding to the given tire placement direction. In response to the one or more signal attributes being within the one or more predefined ranges, the method includes determining that the sensor is fitted on the given tire placement direction.
