A gripping pad that serves as a gripping aid to be worn on one or both hands for gripping tools, such as a hammer, and athletic equipment, such as baseball bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks, dumbbells, and barbells. The gripping pad has four finger holes, each finger hole accommodating one of the four fingers of a hand. The gripping pad can have a descending edge that wraps around the “knob” of a baseball bat when gripping the bat. This helps a batter to hold the bat lower along the handle, while also cushioning the knob, thereby preventing the knob from injuring the hamate bone of the batter’s hand. Hamate bone fractures are among the more common upper extremity injuries seen in baseball, as well as in golf and racquet sports. The gripping pad is made from compressible vibration-absorbing material, such as silicone rubber, which feels soft, but is also sturdy.

A releasable gripping glove is provided having one or more flexible artificial tendons extending through a finger section of a glove body. The flexible artificial tendon is configured to maintain a structurally articulated configuration when the finger section is articulated. Each tendon includes locking teeth that engages with a releasable locking tab extending form a locking mechanism configured to engage the locking teeth when the finger section is articulated. A release mechanism is provided to engage and disengage the locking mechanism. A thumb release rod is positioned within a thumb portion and connected to the release mechanism. The articulating of the finger section releasably locks the flexible artificial tendon in the articulated position, which is releasable through relaxing of the thumb portion.

A glove with an enhanced gripping textured surface is disclosed herein. In preferred embodiments, the glove contains a palm region adapted to cover the palm of a person's hand, a thumb region extending outwardly from the palm region, an index finger region disposed adjacent the thumb region, a middle finger region adjacent the index finger region, a ring finger region adjacent the middle finger region, and a little finger region adjacent the ring finger region with each region containing a textured surface. In preferred embodiments, the textured surface is formed by a plurality of dimensionally hierarchical structures superimposed in layers. The textured surface of the invention, when in contact with wet tissue, repels water at a first texture layer and traps tissue at a second texture layer, such that when in tissue contact, especially exudative tissue, tissue fixatively localizes to the glove surface.
