Steering wheel with vibration damping mass

A steering wheel includes a steering wheel body and a base. The base carrying an inflator and an airbag package, such that the base, the inflator and the airbag package form a first sub-assembly. The base is connected to the steering wheel body at least indirectly via at least one elastic element, such that the sub-assembly can move relative to the steering wheel body in at least one direction so that the whole sub-assembly serves as a vibration damping mass. The steering wheel also includes a cover element with a roof extending over the airbag package, and at least one horn sensor generating a signal when a pressing force exceeding a predefined value is applied to the roof. The cover element is not rigidly connected to the base, such that the sub-assembly can move relative to the steering wheel body under deformation of the elastic element while the cover element does not move relative to the steering wheel body.

COMPONENT FOR A VEHICLE INTERIOR

The user interface may comprise a light display to transmit light from a light source and/or an input device comprising a mechanical coupling to interface with a sensor arrangement. The user interface may comprise output from the light display and/or input by interaction with the input device at the cover surface. The component may comprise a module comprising the light display and the input device. The module may comprise an absorber. The light display may comprise a light guide and/or display panel. The light guide may comprise a projection and/or icon to transmit light through an aperture and/or recess of the cover structure.

AIRBAG APPARATUS ATTACHMENT MECHANISM
20220080918 · 2022-03-17 ·

An airbag apparatus attachment mechanism includes a holder, a supporting member, an urging member, and a functional member. The holder is fastened to a metal core with a fastening member. The supporting member protrudes further forward than an airbag apparatus and is inserted into the holder. The urging member urges the airbag apparatus rearward. The functional member is attached to a part of the supporting member that is inserted in the holder. The functional member includes a spring portion that is thinner than a gap between the supporting member and the holder. The spring portion is disposed in the gap. The functional member is configured such that the spring portion is elastically deformed in a radial direction of the supporting member due to vibration of the airbag apparatus, thereby suppressing the vibration.

Airbag module, steering wheel and method for connecting an airbag module to a steering wheel

The invention relates to an airbag module for arranging on a steering wheel, a locking element and a contact element being arranged on the airbag module. The locking element can be moved and can adopt an unlocked state, a locked state and an intermediate state between the two, in relation to a catch element. In the intermediate state, in which there is mechanical contact between the locking element and the catch element, there is no electrical contact between the contact element and the locking element. In the locked state, in which the locking element is mechanically coupled to the catch element, there is electrical contact between the contact element and the locking element. In the locked state, when the catch element and the locking element are locked together, the contact element, the locking element and the catch element are electrically interconnected.

COVERING CAP FOR AN AIRBAG MODULE AND AIRBAG MODULE HAVING A COVERING CAP OF THIS TYPE

The invention relates to a cover cap (10) for an airbag module (12), especially for a driver airbag module, comprising a front panel (14) including an outer face (16) as well as an opposed inner face (18) which in the assembled state of the airbag module (12) faces a folded airbag (20), and an emblem (22) including two separate emblem elements (24, 26) fastened to the front panel (14), wherein the front panel (14) has a tear line (32) along which the cover cap (10) tears upon activation of the assembled airbag module (12), and wherein the tear line (32) extends between the two separate emblem elements (24, 26). A driver seat airbag may include: a mounting plate seated on a wheel armature; a cover coupled to the mounting plate so as to be lifted and lowered; an elastic member installed between the mounting plate and the cover to apply an elastic force to the cover; an electrode unit installed in the mounting plate; and a connector installed on the cover and connected to the electrode unit when the cover is lowered.

FORCE SENSING HORN SYSTEM

Various implementations of a horn system include one or more force sensors disposed on a first portion of a driver air bag module and one or more actuators disposed on a second portion of the driver air bag module. For example, the force sensors may be disposed adjacent a perimeter of a base plate of the driver air bag module, and the actuators may extend inwardly toward the force sensors from an inner surface of a cover of the driver air bag module, or vice versa. To actuate the horn, the cover is moved axially toward the base plate, causing the actuators to apply force to the force sensors. Force signals received from the force sensors are used by one or more processors to determine characteristics of the force received and/or select a control message for communicating to the horn system based on the force signal characteristics.
