SEATBACK-MOUNTED AIRBAG
An assembly for a vehicle includes a dash. The assembly includes a seat having a seatback and a head restraint extending upwardly from the seatback. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the seatback. The airbag is inflatable from the seatback toward the dash in a seat-rearward direction to an inflated position. The airbag includes an upper portion adjacent the head restraint and pair of lobes extending from the upper portion along the head restraint in a seat-forward direction in the inflated position. The head restraint is between the lobes in the inflated position.
Roof-mounted occupant restraint system
A restraint system (10) for helping to protect an occupant (60) of a vehicle (20) having a seat (50) for the occupant (60) includes a primary airbag (70) having a stored condition within the roof (32) and being inflatable to a deployed condition extending into the cabin (40) on a first side of the seat (50). A support airbag (76) has a stored condition within the roof (32) and is inflatable to a deployed condition on a second side of the seat (50) opposite the first side. Tethers (120) connect the primary airbag (70) and the support airbag (76) such that occupant (60) penetration into the primary airbag (70) pulls the support airbag (76) into engagement with the seat (50).
AIR BAG CUSHION FOR VEHICLE
An air bag cushion for a vehicle. A tether reinforcing fabric coupled to a tether seam portion of main cushion is used to allow the tether reinforcing fabric to inflate with the main cushion when the main cushion inflates, and the inflating tether reinforcing fabric forms an auxiliary chamber between the main cushion and the tether reinforcing fabric, and the auxiliary chamber of the tether reinforcing fabric supports the head of a passenger in a front passenger seat in the event of a crash, thereby preventing the rotation of the passenger’s head of the front passenger seat and by efficiently protecting the safety of the front passenger.
Airbag with reinforced tether
An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a seat in a vehicle having an instrument panel and a housing positioned therein includes an airbag for positioning in the housing and defining an inflatable volume for receiving inflation fluid from an inflator. The airbag includes an occupant-facing panel. A tether has a first end connected to the occupant-facing panel for forming a pocket therein and a second end connected to a portion of the airbag positioned within the housing. The second end includes a folded-over portion. First stitching extends through the folded-over portion in a direction extending transverse to a centerline of the tether. Second stitching extends through the folded-over portion and parallel to the first stitching. The first and second stitchings are spaced a predetermined length from one another.
SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE
The present invention is provided with an inflator arranged on the occupant side of the side frame positioned on the side portion inside the seatback that generates expansion gas and an airbag that is expanded by the expansion gas and protects an occupant seated on the vehicle seat. The airbag includes a main chamber that deploys toward the front of the seatback, and a pre-chamber that houses the inflator inside and is connected to the occupant side of the main chamber. In addition, an internal tether having a front end part connected to the front portion of the pre-chamber and a rear end part connected to the rear portion of the pre-chamber are provided inside the pre-chamber.
Seat-mounted occupant restraint system
A restraint system is provided for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle having a roof and side structure defining a cabin with a seat for the occupant. The restraint system includes an airbag having a stored condition within the vehicle seat and being inflatable to deploy upwards in the cabin to a deployed condition between the occupant and the side structure. The airbag extends from an upper end positioned adjacent the roof to a lower end positioned adjacent a base of the seat. The airbag extends in a forward-rearward direction of the vehicle sufficient to span the entire depth of the seat in the forward-rearward direction.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
An occupant protection device is of a configuration such that a folded airbag is housed and held in a holding body disposed in front of a hip portion of an occupant seated in a seat. The airbag is configured in such a way as to protrude from the holding body owing to an inflating gas being caused to flow into an interior, and inflate in such a way as to cover a region in front of the occupant, and includes an occupant side wall portion that is disposed on the occupant side when inflation is completed, and can restrain an upper body of the occupant. The occupant side wall portion is such that a lower side restraining face, which can restrain a range from an abdominal portion to a chest portion of the occupant, and an upper side restraining face, which can restrain a head portion or a shoulder portion of the occupant, are disposed on a rear face side when inflation is completed, and a bended portion is disposed in a boundary region between the upper side restraining face and the lower side restraining face in such a way as to cause the upper side restraining face to protrude to the occupant side with respect to the lower side restraining face.
Driver airbag
An apparatus (10) for helping to protect an occupant (20) of a front driver seat (22) of a vehicle (12) includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device in the form of an airbag (14) that is inflatable from an instrument panel (30) of the vehicle to a position between the instrument panel and the occupant. The airbag (14) has a curved configuration in profile such that the airbag can deploy from a mounting location in the instrument panel (30) toward the vehicle occupant (20), creating a space (86, 130) between the airbag and the instrument panel for receiving a vehicle steering wheel (32), if present.
Airbag
There is provided an airbag in which there are fewer restrictions in a place for setting a tension member and a place for setting a vent hole. Airbag (10) of the present invention has bag-shaped airbag main body (20), tension member (30, 30a, 30b) disposed inside airbag main body (20), and vent hole (50) provided in airbag main body (20). In two-dimensional view in which an inner side of inflated and deployed airbag main body (20) is viewed from a direction orthogonal to vent hole (50) via vent hole (50), tension member (30, 30a, 30b) has overlapping portion (35) disposed at a position overlapping vent hole (50), and a dimension of at least a part of overlapping portion (35) in an orthogonal direction is smaller than a gap of a portion of vent hole (50), which corresponds to overlapping portion (35), in the orthogonal direction.
