Airbag assembly for side impact protection
A vehicle includes an occupant seating area and a body side having a first pillar and a second pillar disposed vehicle-forward of the first pillar. An airbag is mounted to the first pillar and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag includes a side lobe extending from the first pillar toward the second pillar in the inflated position. The airbag includes a front lobe extending cross-vehicle from the side lobe vehicle-forward of the occupant seating area in the inflated position.
AIRBAG MODULE
An airbag module for protecting an occupant of a vehicle. The airbag includes first and second inflatable chambers. Each of the first and second inflatable chambers is formed by separate front and back panels. Each of the front panels is connected to one of the back panels along a peripheral seam. The airbag is assembled by overlaying the panels on top of each other creating a simple two-dimensional structure for assembly. An inflator is provided for supplying inflation gas to the first chamber of the airbag. The first and second inflatable chambers are connected by a gas flow passage so that gas for inflating the second chamber can flow from the first chamber through the gas flow passage into the second chamber.
Curtain airbag apparatus
Disclosed is a curtain airbag which has at least one expandable portion formed at a front side thereof; and a tether panel which is coupled to the curtain airbag so as to be disposed on one surface of the curtain airbag, and tightened as the curtain airbag is inflated, so as to allow the at least one expandable portion to protrude toward the other surface that is directed toward the inside of an interior of a vehicle.
DASHBOARD PROTECTION ARRANGEMENT
The present disclosure relates to a dashboard protection arrangement, which is adapted to protect an accessory or a piece of equipment located at a central region of a dashboard of a vehicle from a deploying frontal protection airbag. The dashboard protection arrangement comprises a dashboard airbag adapted to deploy along a surface of the dashboard in order to at least partly cover the central region of the dashboard when deployed. The disclosure further relates to a vehicle comprising the dashboard protection arrangement and to a method of deploying a dashboard airbag of a dashboard protection arrangement.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
An occupant protection device for protecting an occupant sitting in a seat includes an inflator, a holding member that is adapted to be disposed in front of a pelvic region of the occupant as sitting in the seat, and an airbag that is formed of a sheet material having flexibility and stored in and held by the holding member in a folded form. The airbag is configured to be inflated with an inflation gas fed by the inflator. The airbag includes a shoulder restraining portion that is configured to be deployed in front of shoulders of the occupant, and a supporting inflatable portion that is disposed in a lower end portion of the airbag as deployed for supporting the shoulder restraining portion. The supporting inflatable portion as deployed includes, in the underside, a supported surface that is adapted to be supported by thighs of the occupant.
AIRBAG MOUNTING BRACKET
Methods for making an airbag mounting bracket for use with an attachment component of an associated airbag cushion are provided. An opening in a mounting bracket precursor formed of a bracket precursor material is extruded. A rounded surface of the bracket precursor material adjacent the extruded opening is formed. The mounting bracket precursor with the rounded surface is subsequently finalized to form the airbag cushion mounting bracket, wherein the extruded opening provides an airbag attachment engagement opening for passage of the attachment component and the rounded surface provides a load bearing surface of increased area for the attachment component. Also provided are corresponding or associated airbag mounting brackets.
CENTER AIRBAG DEVICE
A center airbag device is arranged in an instrument panel of a vehicle and located in a middle portion of the instrument panel with respect to a lateral direction of the vehicle. The center airbag device includes an airbag deployed and inflated when supplied with gas. The airbag includes a basal portion located on an upper surface of the instrument panel when the airbag is deployed and inflated, a protection portion located rearward from the basal portion and extended downward when the airbag is deployed and inflated, and an auxiliary portion located between the basal portion and the protection portion. The auxiliary portion allows the protection portion to be bent relative to the basal portion when the airbag is deployed and inflated.
ADAPTIVE VENT FOR KNEE AIRBAG
A knee airbag (KAB) can be constructed with an adaptive vent for reducing internal cushion pressure when the deployment path is obstructed. Obstruction may occur, for instance, by an out-of-position occupant, or when the occupant's legs are in close proximity to the deploying KAB. By reducing the cushion pressure through adaptive venting, a potential for injury due to the deploying KAB can be reduced. External straps can be used to close the vents when no obstruction is encountered. With an adaptive KAB vent design, a direct contact between the occupant and the KAB adaptive vent straps can determine an amount of venting. In addition, the straps may be designed so that they are adaptive (tapered, positioned on an angle, or using different spacing) to account for different occupant sizes/knee spacing/knee contact locations.
CENTER SIDE AIRBAG MODULE
An airbag module for protecting an occupant of a vehicle seat includes an inflatable cushion and an inflator for providing inflation gas. The module is mounted on an inboard side of a second vehicle seat located adjacent to the vehicle seat containing the occupant. The cushion is configured to inflate into a position between the seats and includes a forward inflatable chamber that is a larger volume than a rearward inflatable chamber. The forward chamber extends vertically from the bottom of the vehicle seat to a position suitable to receive impact from the head of the occupant in the event of a far-side crash event. The rearward inflatable chamber is configured to deploy into a position inboard of the vehicle seats. The forward and rearward inflatable chambers are separated by a cleft that opens toward the occupant.
Airbag
Provided are an airbag in which an airbag main body section can be effectively unfolded inside a vehicle compartment. The airbag includes an airbag main body section formed in a bag shape, and a gas introduction section that communicates with the airbag main body section, and to which gas is supplied. The airbag main body section in a folded state has a first roll fold section formed by folding a tip side in an unfolding direction, and a second roll fold section formed by folding at least a portion on a base end side in the unfolding direction from the first roll fold section, and having a roll center at a position different from a roll center of the first roll fold section.
