A vehicle brake system configured by disposing, on a vehicle, an input device to which the brake operation of an operator is inputted and a motor cylinder device for generating brake fluid pressure by driving a hydraulic pressure controlling piston stored in a cylindrical cylinder main body by means of an electric motor at least in accordance with the brake operation, wherein the motor cylinder device is attached in a manner such that at least a portion of the cylinder main body overlaps with a power plant in the vehicle up and down direction; and the electric motor is disposed below the cylinder main body.

An all-terrain vehicle is disclosed having a braking system with an anti-lock braking control module and a first brake master cylinder hydraulically coupled to the anti-lock braking control module. A first brake actuator is coupled to the first brake master cylinder and a brake caliper is coupled to at least some of the ground engaging members. The first brake master cylinder upon actuation provides anti-lock braking to either the first or second ground engaging members. A second brake master cylinder is hydraulically coupled to the anti-lock braking control module. A second brake actuator is coupled to the second brake master cylinder and a brake caliper is coupled to at least some of the ground engaging members. The second brake master cylinder upon actuation provides anti-lock braking to either the first or second ground engaging members. The vehicle also has a speed monitor with a gear ring positioned on an exterior surface of a stub shaft and a speed pickup positioned adjacent to the gear ring.

The controller is secured to an outer face of the housing block and has a device flange that is paired with a housing flange formed on the housing block. The flanges fix the housing block and the controller together. The housing flange protrudes radially outwards relative to a housing block peripheral side facing the housing flange such that the entire upper face of the housing block is available for a controller housing. This configuration additionally allows the use of a printed circuit board which is free of open recesses on the peripheral side.
