A rigid, swing-open package of tobacco articles having: a group of tobacco articles; an inner container housing the group of tobacco articles; an outer container housing the inner container; a main hinge connecting the inner container to the outer container to allow the inner container to rotate between a closed position and an open position; and a stop member, which limits extraction of the inner container from the outer container and so defines a fully-open position of the inner container with respect to the outer container; the stop member being provided with a stop tab having an inner panel hinged at one end to the inner container, an outer panel glued to a wall of the outer container, and an intermediate panel hinged to the inner panel on one side and to the outer panel on the opposite side.

The present invention relates to a package for smoking articles comprising a container portion (2) and a lid (3) hingedly connected to the container portion (2) about a hinge line (5). The container portion (2) has an inner frame (19) and an outer frame (18). The lid (3) includes an end portion (15) and a lid wall (12) extending from the end portion (15) that overlaps a container wall (6) of the container portion (2) when closed, the container wall (6) having a locking element (27) that locates over a corresponding locking part (35) on the lid wall (12) and a recess (24) formed in the inner frame (19) extending from an upper edge (20) of the inner frame (19). In one embodiment, a lower edge (25) of the recess (24) is spaced further from the upper edge (20) of the container wall (6) than the locking element (27). In another embodiment, the recess (24) extends into the second container wall (8).

The packet may include a blocking system arranged to prevent movement of the container from the safety position to the use position and to enable this movement via an unlocking element.
