Monitoring operatives in hazardous environments
Operatives are monitored in a hazardous environment. A control unit is connected to a wiring loom embedded within an item of clothing having illuminatable devices and interface connectors. A monitoring device is connected to an interface connector and a radio device is connected to an interface connector. The control unit is activated to supply power to the connected monitoring device and the connected radio device. Condition data is conveyed from the monitoring device to the control unit. Uplink signals are transmitted from the control unit to a base station via a cellular radio communication module. Downlink signals are received at the control unit from the base station. Condition data is transmitted via the cellular radio communication module when the downlink signals are being received. Condition data is transferred to the non-cellular radio device when the downlink signals are not being received, for transmission to the base station.

A system for controlling wearable media, the system comprising an article of wearable media, the article including at least one portion that is configured to change from a first configuration to a second configuration in response to a stimulus; a stimulator coupled to the at least one portion and adapted to selectively apply a stimulus upon receiving an activation command; a controller including a processor, a memory and an input/output device, the processor configured to execute instructions including communicating with the wearable media, the controller being adapted to selectively communicate with the stimulator to send the activation command to change the at least one portion from the first configuration to the second configuration.
Smart article visual communication based on facial movement
A smart mask includes a first material layer, at least one display, a first sensor, and a control module. The first material layer is configured to cover a portion of a face of a person. The at least one display is connected to the first material layer and configured to display images over a mouth of the person. The first sensor is configured to detect movement of the mouth of the person and generate a signal indicative of the movement of the mouth. The control module is configured to receive the signal and display the images on the display based on the movement of the mouth.
UTILITY JACKET FOR DOG WALKING
A jacket that is worn by a person walking a dog includes a main torso covering portion which can be closed to protect and provide warmth to the wearer's torso. A leash that can be utilized as a belt can be used to snuggly fit the jacket around the user's waist. The jacket also includes an exterior pocket that includes a roll of waste bags, typically in a roll. The exterior pocket includes an opening on the front surface of the pocket where a grommet is typically attached around the perimeter of the opening. The bag is pulled through the opening in the grommet to gain access to the bag. The lead bag is removed from the roll along the perforation separating the bags such that the walker can manually remove a bag from the pocket and tear the first bag away from the following bag while leaving the following bag in a position that is easily gripped for the next required cleaning.
Illuminated Vest
An illuminated vest for use by an individual has been provided. The illuminated vest includes one or more batteries that are placed in one or more pockets of a transparent polyvinyl chloride (PVC) vest. The transparent PVC vest is constructed as two or more separate PVC vests with either heat sealed or sewn edges. Further, one or more light strands are encased inside the transparent PVC vest. A light control device controls the power supply from the one or more batteries to the one or more light strands based on an input provided by a user, and accordingly, turns ON or OFF the one or more light strands.
Electroluminescent compact laminar element
A compact electroluminescent laminar element includes a flexible electroluminescent lamp and an electronic module which is connected in the same layer as the lower electrode to the lamp and includes at least an electronic control component, an electronic component for activating the lamp, and a battery, where the lamp and the electronic module are housed together in an encapsulating substrate consisting of a textile or plastic material, forming a closed and compact element that can be water-impermeable. The activation component is a push-button, a temperature sensor, or a movement sensor. It also comprises a reflective layer.
Integrated Wearable Energy Generation and Annunciation Systems
An integrated wearable energy generation and annunciation system is presented. The system includes a wearable item. The system also includes a plurality of solar panels integral with the wearable item and positionable on the wearable item. The system includes a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) panels integral with the wearable item and positionable on the wearable item. The system includes a plurality of batteries configured to receive power from the solar panels and to power LED panels and system components. The system also includes control circuitry arranged to interface the solar panels, the LED panels, system components, and the batteries. The system also includes a control platform structured to provide control functions for the system to generate power from the plurality of solar panels, to charge the batteries, to power and display data on the LED panels, and to coordinate functionality amongst system components.

This invention is a commercially manufactured article of manufacture (such as a shoulder patch) comprising an infrared (IR) phosphorescent material that emits in the IR wavelength range (e.g., from approximately seven-hundred nanometers (700 nm) to approximately one millimeter (1 mm)) after being excited by incident wavelengths of between 100 nm and 750 nm (or visible light). In other words, once the material has been exposed to visible light, the material will continue to emit in the IR wavelength range for a period of time, even when the material is no longer exposed to the visible light.
Sense-Enabled Apparel
Systems and methods for integrating and using sensor system in articles of apparel are provided. The system may include an apparel piece sized and dimensioned to be worn on a user and a sensor system integrated with the apparel piece. The sensor system may include at least one stretchable capacitive sensor positioned on the apparel piece so as to measure a biometric parameter of the user when the apparel piece is worn, an illumination system configured to provide illumination in a specified illumination area based on the measured biometric parameter of the user, and a control module to control one or more settings of the illumination system.
