The guide groove (91) cooperates with the functional rail to hold the ball (3). When the rotary wheel (6) rotates, the ball (3) rolls in the functional rail to lock or unlock rotation of the rotary wheel (6).

In a winding device 1A, a flat motor 2 is used as a motor, and a spool 3 and a magical planetary gear mechanism 4 are formed flat along an extending XY plane of the flat motor 2. Thus, the entirety of the device can be configured flat, and can be thinned. Moreover, the magical planetary gear mechanism 4 prevents rotation of the spool 3 by external force, and therefore, looseness of the elongated member can be reduced.

A vacuum hose reel assembly has a spiral torsion spring. One end portion of the spiral torsion spring is received in a slot defined by a spring holder. As a vacuum hose is unwound from the reel, the spring is wound as the reel turns in a first direction. To wind the vacuum hose back on the reel, the spring unwinds and turns the reel in a second, opposite, direction. In the event that the forces between the end portion of the spring and the spring holder become too high, the end portion of the spring disengages the spring holder such that the end portion of the spring turns about the spring holder, thereby preventing the spring from breaking.

This invention modifies and redesigns a spring-loaded, retractable supply hose mechanisms used to pan out, retract, and store hoses used for gases (e.g., oxygen), treatments, or fluids, specifically this inventor's prior art, the Retractable Oxygen Supply Hose Mechanism, U.S. Pat. No. 6,065,490. This invention incorporates an Adaptor Cap or Removable Cap to prevent slippage of the Swivel connector, incorporates a Removable Cap into the upper disc or flange of the supply-hose reel and/or into the mechanism housing cover that acts as an anti-rotational device, and features bearing surfaces to prevent reel slippage. This internal ratchet system better prevents binding and kinking of the patient's supply, thereby facilitating the storage and the quick-controlled release of the desired amount of oxygen supply hose for patient's Medical Oxygen and other gases delivery, therapy, or treatments.
