Retractable pet leash assembly
A retractable pet leash assembly includes a housing, a spool, a leash and a braking assembly. The spool is disposed inside the housing and biased by a spring and includes braking notches. The leash is wound about the spool. The braking assembly includes a pawl, a pawl spring and an operating member. The pawl selectively engages the braking notches, the pawl spring biases the pawl towards engagement with the spool. The operating member moves the pawl between first and second positions to move the pawl into and out of the path of the braking notches. The operating member has a pawl non-engaged position in which the pawl is in the first position, a first pawl engaged position in which the pawl is in the second position, and a second pawl engaged position in which the operating member is retained while the pawl is in the second position.
Quick-adjust Tensioner
Quick-adjust tensioner that exerts a braking torque on a spool. The tensioner includes a stop configured to fit onto a rod supporting the spool. The location of the stop on the rod is adjustable by the user. The stop is connected to a foot by a biasing member. The biasing member presses the foot against the spool to create a braking torque on the spool. The force of the biasing member on the foot is predetermined by adjusting the distance between the stop and the foot, thereby adjusting the foot's braking torque on the spool.
Universal winder
A winder may include a body, a spindle, and a manually actuated winding mechanism. The spindle may be coupled to the body and constructed and arranged to be rotatable with respect to the body and to be removably coupled to at least one spool. The manually actuated winding mechanism may be coupled to the spindle and constructed and arranged to rotate the spindle and the at least one spool.

SAFETY PET LEASH
A pet leash has a housing with an interior space, the housing having a graspable member adapted to be grasped by a handler. A lead extends from a pet connecting member to a housing end, the housing end of the lead being received within the interior space of the housing. A lead retraction mechanism is associated with the housing and adapted to allow the lead to be retracted into the housing or extended from the housing, and a retraction control mechanism is adapted to control the lead retraction mechanism to allow a handler to selectively control the retraction into and extension from the housing of the lead to selectively adjust the length of the lead extending from the housing. A safety locking mechanism is adapted to be in an unactuated position and in an actuated position where the safety locking mechanism prevents extension of the lead from the housing.
