Calibration of electrical parameters in optically switchable windows
The embodiments herein relate to methods for controlling an optical transition and the ending tint state of an optically switchable device, and optically switchable devices configured to perform such methods. In various embodiments, non-optical (e.g., electrical) feedback is used to help control an optical transition. The feedback may be used for a number of different purposes. In many implementations, the feedback is used to control an ongoing optical transition. In some embodiments a transfer function is used calibrate optical drive parameters to control the tinting state of optically switching devices.
LAMINATED GLAZING WITH ELECTRICALLY CONNECTED LAYER AND METHOD OF PREPARING A LAMINATED GLAZING
Disclosed herein is a laminated glazing having an electrically connectable layer, comprising: first and second glass substrates; an electrically connectable layer; interlayers rendering the electrically connectable layer positioned between interlayers; and a connection wire having first and second connection ends and a main portion positioned between the first and second connection ends. The first connection end of the connection wire is electrically connected to the electrically connectable layer, whereas the main portion of the connection wire is positioned within the interlayers.
Polarized window assembly
A window assembly includes an electro-optic element which has a first substantially transparent substrate defining first and second surfaces. The second surface includes a first electrically conductive layer. A second substantially transparent substrate defines third and fourth surfaces. The third surface includes a second electrically conductive layer. A primary seal is disposed between the first and second substrates. The seal and the first and second substrates define a cavity therebetween. An electro-optic medium is disposed in the cavity. The electro-optic medium is switchable such that the electro-optic element is operable between substantially clear and darkened states. An absorptive layer is positioned on the fourth surface of the electro-optic element and a reflective layer is positioned on the absorptive layer.
Connection apparatus and methods for communication with movable electro-optic window systems
A vehicle apparatus configured to selectively position and enclose an opening formed in at least one panel of a vehicle includes a sliding panel and a positioning mechanism. The sliding panel includes an electrical device in communication with a control circuit of the vehicle and the positioning mechanism is configured to slidably position the sliding panel along a positioning track between an open position and a closed position. A control connection is configured to transmit control signals between the control circuit of the vehicle and the electrical device. The control connection extends from a portion of the vehicle to a connection interface of the electrical device, and the connection apparatus is configured to communicate a control signal to adjust an operating state of the electrical device in both the open position and the closed position.
Packaged film assembly for lamination between substrates
A packaged film assembly includes a packaging material and a switchable film. The switchable film is packaged in and attached to at least a portion of the packaging material.
Electrochromic element, optical filter, lens unit, image pickup apparatus, and window member
As an example of an EC element in which vertical color separation is suppressed, the present disclosure provides an EC element including a pair of electrodes, a solvent, an anodic EC compound, and a cathodic EC compound. In the EC element, the difference between a solvation free energy of an oxidized form of the anodic EC compound in water and a solvation free energy of the oxidized form in octanol is 35 kcal/mol or more, and the difference between a solvation free energy of a reduced form of the cathodic EC compound in propylene carbonate and a solvation free energy of the reduced form in octanol is −35 kcal/mol or less.
ELECTROCHROMIC FILMS WITH EDGE PROTECTION
The present application discloses a method for preparing an electrochromic device. The method includes placing an edge protection material on a first and second substrates, placing a first and second interlayers respectively within the edge protection material on the first and second substrates, wherein the edge protection material surrounds edges of the first and second interlayers, and interposing an electrochromic film between the first and second interlayers. The edge protection material prevents chemicals in the first and second interlayers from entering into the electrochromic film.
Mitigating defects in an electrochromic device under a bus bar
Methods are provided for fabricating electrochromic devices that mitigate formation of short circuits under a top bus bar without predetermining where top bus bars will be applied on the device. Devices fabricated using such methods may be deactivated under the top bus bar, or may include active material under the top bus bar. Methods of fabricating devices with active material under a top bus bar include depositing a modified top bus bar, fabricating self-healing layers in the electrochromic device, and modifying a top transparent conductive layer of the device prior to applying bus bars.
DIMMING GLASS WINDOW AND VEHICLE
“A dimming glass window and a vehicle. The dimming glass window includes: a glass unit including an inner glass assembly and an outer glass assembly which are oppositely arranged, an accommodation space is between the inner glass assembly and the outer glass assembly; a touch function layer and a dimming function layer arranged between the inner glass assembly and the outer glass assembly, the touch function layer is on an inner side of the dimming function layer; a control unit in the accommodating space and connected to the touch function layer and the dimming function layer; and a dimming controller arranged outside the glass unit, the dimming controller is connected to the control unit by a wire so as to match the control unit, the touch function layer and the dimming function layer to implement light transmittance adjustment of the dimming glass window. The vehicle includes the dimming glass window.”
Electrical connection configurations for privacy glazing structures
A privacy glazing structure may include an electrically controllable optically active material that provides controlled transition between a privacy or scattering state and a visible or transmittance state. To make electrical connections with electrode layers that control the optically active material, the privacy glazing structure may include electrode engagement regions. In some examples, the electrode engagement regions are formed as notches in peripheral edges of opposed panes bounding the optically active material. The notches may or may not overlap to provide a through conduit in the region of overlap for wiring. In either case, the notches may allow the remainder of the structure to have a flush edge surface for ease of downstream processing.
