An elastic or silicone gripping surface is formed on an inner face of the pocket so that when an item is inserted into the pocket, it removably adheres or sticks to the griping surface preventing or reducing bouncing action of the item within the pocket.

The sash provides opposing ends configured for removable engagement with one another. The sash also defines an at least one compartment between opposing first and second panels of the sash, with the at least one compartment being sized and positioned for removably receiving at least one personal item therewithin. During use of the apparatus, the sash is wrapped at least once around the user, and the opposing ends are then removably engaged with one another, thereby securing the apparatus to the user while allowing access to the at least one compartment.

In one embodiment, an envelope pocket may be opened from the bottom and disposed along the rear, upper portion of the garment. The pocket opening may be positioned such that an athlete may reach around his or her back and quickly and ergonomically insert and retrieve balls from the pocket. The envelope pocket may be constructed such that the stored objects and balls do not impede an athlete's movement during athletic activity.
