There is provided a liquid jetting apparatus including: a liquid jetting head; a carriage; a cap; a cap switching device switching the cap between a capping state and an uncapping state; a carriage blocker movable between a first position not contacting carriage, and a second position blocking movement of the carriage in a first direction; and a contacting portion locatable, in the uncapping state, at a third position at which the contacting portion is not in contact with carriage, and locatable, in the capping state, at a fourth position at which, under a condition that the blocked carriage rotates around an axis perpendicular to a liquid jetting surface with the carriage blocker as a supporting point, the contacting portion is capable of contacting the rotating carriage. The contacting portion is configured to move integrally with the cap in a plane parallel to the liquid jetting surface.
Printing unit having fixed frame supporting independently movable capper and wiper
A pagewide printing unit for mounting over a media feed path and printing onto media. The printing unit includes: a print module having a printhead; a maintenance module having a fixed frame supporting a capper and a wiper, the print module being movable relative to the fixed frame; and a lift mechanism for raising and lowering the print module relative to the fixed frame between a maintenance position a printing position. The fixed frame is in a same fixed position in both the maintenance and printing positions. Further, the capper and the wiper are each independently movable relative to the fixed frame.
Modular printer having print bar chassis seated on maintenance chassis
A modular printer includes: a media support defining a media feed path; and a plurality of pagewide printing units spaced apart along a media feed direction of the media feed path. Each printing unit includes: a maintenance chassis fixedly positioned over the media feed path; and a print bar chassis seated on the maintenance chassis, the print bar chassis supporting one or more print modules extending across a width of the media feed path. A lift mechanism raises and lowers the print bar chassis relative to the maintenance chassis, with each print bar chassis being independently liftable from a printing position to a maintenance position. A footprint of each printing unit in both the printing and maintenance positions is defined by a perimeter of the maintenance chassis.

A method for maintaining an ink jet head according to the invention includes at least one of a maintenance step of attaching a maintenance liquid to a nozzle surface of an ink jet head, which ejects a reaction solution including an aggregating agent for aggregating or thickening components of an ink composition, to clean the nozzle surface, and a maintenance step of covering and moisturizing the nozzle surface with a head moisturizing cap supplied with the maintenance liquid, in which the maintenance liquid includes a water-soluble organic solvent having a boiling point of 280? C. or less and water.

A liquid discharging device includes a head, a cap, a first wiper, a discharge channel, and a controller. The head ejects liquid from a nozzle. The cap is configured to abut against a nozzle surface at a covered position and to separate from the nozzle surface in a retracted position. The first wiper wipes the nozzle surface. The discharge channel connects an internal space of the cap to an outside of the cap. The controller executes a first maintenance process and a second maintenance process. In the first maintenance process, a first maintenance liquid contacts the cap in the retracted position and the first wiper. In the second maintenance process, a second maintenance liquid different from the first maintenance liquid is distributed to the internal space of the cap and the discharge channel.

A print module including a printhead cartridge releasably engaged with a supply module The supply module includes a body housing electronic circuitry for supplying power and data to a printhead of the printhead cartridge; and an ink inlet module and an ink outlet module flanking the body at opposite sides thereof. A printhead maintenance system includes: a maintenance chassis having a maintenance module with a laterally movable capper; a print bar chassis movably mounted on the maintenance chassis, the print bar chassis having a printhead and a cover for the capper; a lift mechanism for raising and lowering the print bar chassis relative to the maintenance chassis between a capping position a printing position; and a retraction mechanism for laterally extending and retracting the capper between the capping position and the printing position. The printhead is engaged with the capper in the capping position and the cover is engaged with the capper in the printing position.

In a printer, when a pressed member that is movable together with a movable table pressed by an ink head causes a movement mechanism to move the movable table and the pressed member slides on the ink head, caps are moved from a separate position to a cap position by changing relative positions of nozzle surfaces and the caps in a vertical direction without changing the relative positions of the nozzle surfaces and the caps in a main scanning direction.

The maintenance module includes an L-shaped frame having a longer arm extending parallel with a longitudinal axis of the printhead and a shorter arm.
