LIQUID DROPLET DISCHARGING APPARATUS, LIQUID DROPLET DISCHARGING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM

A liquid droplet discharging apparatus includes a plurality of nozzles to discharge a liquid droplet onto a medium and a liquid droplet discharging controller to receive image data. The liquid droplet discharging controller controls each of the nozzles to discharge the liquid droplet in an amount defined by the image data onto a target discharging position on the medium, which corresponds to a pixel position defined by the image data. The liquid droplet discharging controller controls at least one of the nozzles to discharge the liquid droplet for a controlled number of times smaller than a number of times N representing an integer not smaller than 2 in an amount greater than the amount defined by the image data onto the target discharging position on the medium. A frequency recorder records the controlled number of times of discharging for each of the at least one of the nozzles.

Printing fluid container

In one example, a container for holding printing fluid includes a chamber to hold a printing fluid and an inelastic, expandable, and contractible bag occupying space in the chamber. The exterior of the bag is exposed to an interior of the chamber and an interior of the bag is sealed against the interior of the chamber and vented to the atmosphere.

The printing apparatus (liquid discharging apparatus) is provided with a support section that supports a medium, a discharge section that discharges ink on the medium supported on the support section, and a transport unit that transports the medium in a transport direction. The support section includes a support structure including a liquid permeable portion that supports the medium and allows ink to pass therethrough, and a liquid holding portion that holds ink that has passed through the liquid permeable portion.

Method of generating print data for inkjet printhead

A method of generating print data for an inkjet printhead having a plurality of ink planes. The method includes the steps of: receiving image data for a print job in a printer controller; retrieving keep-wet pattern data for each ink plane of the printhead, the retrieved keep-wet pattern data being determined using one or more input parameters; generating first print data for each ink plane in the printer controller based on the received image data; merging the first print data with the keep-wet pattern data to provide second print data for each ink plane; and sending the second print data from the printer controller to the printhead, thereby causing the printhead to print an image together with a keep-wet pattern. The keep-wet pattern is defined by a plurality of dots printed at a frequency sufficient to maintain hydration of each nozzle in the printhead.

An image forming apparatus includes a drawing data creating unit and a controller. The drawing data creating unit creates drawing data from a print job. The controller automatically sets at least one of a first dropping method of performing discharge in a drawing area and a second dropping method of performing the discharge outside the drawing area as a preliminary discharge method in accordance with a type of component elements of the created drawing data, and performs preliminary discharge in accordance with the set preliminary discharge method.

METHOD TO ACTIVATE A PRINTING ELEMENT OF AN INKJET PRINTER

A method to activate a printing element of an inkjet printer can include determining print data that indicates the usable print image to be printed with image point(s). The image point(s) are arranged at matrix point(s) of a print matrix. The method can also include determining virtual refresh data that indicates a virtual refresh image with refresh dots positioned at the matrix points based on a random algorithm, and activating the first printing element based on the virtual refresh data and the print data for the first column of the print matrix. The first printing element can be activated at a matrix point of the first column with: an ejection waveform to eject an ink droplet if the print data indicates an image point; and a vibration waveform to vibrate an ink meniscus of the first printing element without ink ejection if the virtual refresh data indicates a refresh dot.

An inkjet printing apparatus includes a transport speed detector for detecting transport speed of a printing medium, an inkjet head having a plurality of discharge portions for discharging ink droplets from the discharge portions for printing, and a flushing controller for carrying out discrete flushing from the discharge portions. For an acceleration area of the printing medium where the transport speed detector detects an increase in transport speed before printing, a first discharge rate is set as discharge rate of the ink droplets per unit time for the discharge flushing. For a constant speed area of the printing medium where the transport speed detector detects a substantially constant transport speed during printing, a second discharge rate lower than the first discharge rate is set as discharge rate of the ink droplets per unit time for the discharge flushing.

METHOD OF MULTI-COLOR PAGEWIDE PRINTING WITH OPTIMIZED NOZZLE HYDRATION

A method of multi-color printing in a single pass using a fixed pagewide array of monochrome inkjet printheads. The printheads are aligned with each other in a media feed direction and the method includes the steps of: feeding print media along the media feed direction past a first printhead positioned furthest upstream in the array, a third printhead downstream of the first printhead and a second printhead positioned furthest downstream in the array; printing a yellow ink onto the print media using the first printhead; printing a black ink onto the print media using the third printhead; and printing a cyan or magenta ink onto the print media using the second printhead.
