Variable control apparatus for airbag of vehicle
A variable control apparatus for an airbag of a vehicle includes: a plurality of tethers each of which having one side coupled to a front sheath among a plurality of sheaths of an airbag cushion, each of the plurality of tethers formed to have a length shorter than a distance between the front sheath and a rear sheath when the airbag cushion is fully deployed; a release mechanism provided at a rear sheath side of the airbag cushion, connected to the respective other sides of the plurality of tethers, and selectively releasing a tether among the plurality of tethers upon an operation of the release mechanism; and a controller configured to variably control a deployment shape of the airbag cushion by operating the release mechanism based on a collision direction of the vehicle, a seat state of a seat of the vehicle, or a sitting posture of a passenger in the vehicle.
Occupant restraint system
A restraint system is provided for helping to protect an occupant in a seat of a vehicle and includes an airbag having a main portion inflatable from a stored condition to a deployed condition in front of the occupant. Arms extend from the main portion and are spaced apart from one another to form an uninflated volume for receiving the occupant in response to a vehicle collision. The arms are configured to inflate to opposite sides of the occupant prior to occupant penetration into the airbag.
VEHICLE AIRBAG
A vehicle includes a seat having a seat bottom and defining a seat-forward direction. The vehicle includes an interior component. The vehicle includes an airbag supported by the interior component and inflatable to an inflated position having a main body elongated along a vehicle-longitudinal axis and an extension extending from the main body transverse to the vehicle-longitudinal axis in front of the seat bottom relative to the seat-forward direction.
AIRBAG FOR RETRACTABLE STEERING WHEEL
A restraint system includes a retractable steering wheel, an airbag inflatable from the steering wheel, two primary tethers, two secondary tethers, and a tether release engaged with both secondary tethers. The airbag when inflated includes a front panel adjacent the steering wheel and an impact panel opposite the front panel. The primary tethers extend from the front panel to the impact panel. The secondary tethers extend from the front panel to each primary tether.
AIRBAG DEVICE
An actuator of an airbag device includes a main body portion, which is attached to an attachment base, and a cap including a fitting protruding portion that is inserted into a fitting recessed portion of the main body portion. The fitting protruding portion has a holding portion, which is inserted into a holding hole of a coupling member when fitted to the main body portion and holds a leading end portion of the coupling member, and a movement permitting unit that, when a ceiling portion of the cap is subjected to pressure of a combustion gas of a squib, causes the ceiling portion to move, and causes the holding portion to move from a holding position, wherein the holding portion is inserted into the holding hole of the coupling member, to a holding released position, wherein the holding portion is removed from the holding hole.
Airbag module
An airbag module (10) for a restraint device (14) includes an airbag (24), in particular a seat-integrated side airbag, and a slidable actuator (40), wherein the airbag (24) has at least a first chamber (26) and at least a second chamber (28) which are fluidically connected to each other via a fluid communication, wherein the actuator (40) has a blocking position in which the fluid communication is blocked and a release position in which the fluid communication is released.
Actuator devices and assemblies for automotive safety devices
An actuator device with an actuator cup having a first end and a second end. The actuator cup defines a storage chamber containing a pyrotechnic material to produce gas. The storage chamber also includes a coolant. At least one electrical connection coupled to the first end, the electrical connection in reaction initiating communication with the pyrotechnic material. The second end of the actuator cup includes a concave surface before actuation of the pyrotechnic material and during the actuation of the pyrotechnic material the second end transitions from the concave surface to a convex surface.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
An occupant protection device includes an airbag which is deployed and inflated with an amount of protrusion from a storage position to a rear side in an inflation completed state in a large protrusion amount mode and a small protrusion amount mode, and the airbag includes a bag body and a tether. The tether is connected to a length adjustment unit. The bag body has a tubular inflation portion curved in a substantially U shape from the storage position toward the tether connection portion. A shape of the bag body in the large protrusion amount mode is defined such that the tether connection portion is further moved rearward with respect to the inlet port on the inner peripheral surface side, as compared with the case of the small protrusion amount mode.
Adaptive knee airbag for vehicle occupant restraint device
A knee airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint device can adopt a deployed position of use between a fixed vehicle component and the legs of a vehicle occupant. The airbag includes an airbag sheath, at least one exhaust orifice formed therein and control features for selectively releasing the exhaust orifice. The control features are disposed inside the knee airbag and arranged so as to release or block the exhaust orifice depending on the expansion of the knee airbag in a particular direction of expansion.
Airbag assembly with tethered reaction surface and cushion configured to permit forward head rotation
An airbag assembly is configured for mounting above an occupant in a vehicle. The example airbag assembly includes an airbag housing that is configured to enclose an airbag cushion when the airbag cushion is in an uninflated state. The airbag cushion is connected to the airbag housing and is configured to project outward from the airbag housing when the airbag cushion inflates from the uninflated state to an inflated state. The example airbag assembly also includes a tether connected at a first attachment point and connected to the airbag cushion at a second attachment point. The first attachment point is located horizontally closer to the occupant than the second attachment point when the airbag cushion is in the inflated state such that the tether limits movement of the airbag cushion in a direction away from the occupant.
