RESTRAINING DEVICE AND AIRBAG MODULE
The invention describes a holding device (12) for holding and releasing a tensioning means (14) of a vehicle safety system, e.g., an airbag tether. The holding device (12) includes a pyrotechnical actuator assembly (24) for holding and, in terms of signals, specifically releasing the tensioning means (14), wherein the actuator assembly (24) comprises a plastic base (26) in which a pyrotechnical unit (28) including a propelling charge and an igniter (30) is accommodated, wherein the pyrotechnical unit (28) has a rear side (36) and a front side (38). The holding device (12) has a tensioning means holder (40) which is directly adjacent at least to the front side (38) of the pyrotechnical unit (28), covers the same and is detachably supported on the plastic base (26) so that the tensioning means holder (40) detaches as a unit completely from the plastic base (26). The plastic material forming the plastic base (26) is injection-molded around the tensioning means holder (40) in the area of its longitudinal end associated with the pyrotechnical unit (28), and an area which is not injection-molded constitutes a holding portion (48) for the tensioning means (14). In addition, an airbag module (10) comprising a holding device (12) is described.
Airbag with extended horizontal cushion preventing head and knee contact
An airbag system includes a vehicle having a vehicle seat rotated between an upright position to a fully reclined position. An airbag is positioned forward of a passenger seated on the vehicle seat, the airbag positioned in a stowed condition and a fully inflated condition. A horizontal cushion of the airbag in the fully inflated condition extends from a main airbag section. The horizontal cushion is contacted by a head of the passenger and prevents rotation of the head into direct contact with one or both knees of the passenger.
AIRBAG CUSHION WITH INTERNAL VALVE FOR SECONDARY PRESSURE CHAMBER
An airbag cushion includes a first cushion portion including a first wall defining a first chamber and a second cushion portion connected to the first cushion portion and projecting outward therefrom. The second cushion portion includes a second wall defining a second chamber. The airbag cushion further includes a flow-restricting valve fluidly connecting the first chamber to the second chamber and configured to maintain a pressure level of gas inside the second chamber at a first pressure greater than a pressure level of gas inside the first chamber during a collision event.
AIRBAG APPARATUS
An airbag has a main bag portion that is provided with an occupant protective surface which is disposed to face the occupant and an auxiliary bag portion that can be disposed on the left side of the storage part, between the main bag portion and a vehicle body-side member, when the inflation is completed. The auxiliary bag portion is configured to enable an inflating gas to flow into an inside thereof through the main bag portion, is configured to be inflated under control of a control mechanism in association with a collision mode of a vehicle, and is configured to be interposed between the main bag portion and the vehicle body-side member and to be capable of pushing a region of the occupant protective surface on a side of the auxiliary bag portion, which is inflated, toward a side of the occupant, when the inflation is completed.

The invention relates to an airbag arrangement for a motor vehicle, withan airbag (1), the airbag (1) having a first cushion layer (1.1) and a second cushion layer (1.2) opposite to the first cushion layer (1.1), andat least one tether arrangement (2), the tether arrangement being connected to the airbag (1) and being connectable with one end to the motor vehicle outside the airbag (1).
Airbag device
An airbag device includes an airbag having an exhaust hole and a flap member that can close off the exhaust hole. The flap member includes a flap main body and a coupling member. The leading end of the coupling member is coupled with an opening/closing control device. The flap main body closes off the exhaust hole from an inner peripheral face side of the airbag. A width on the base portion side is set to be greater than a width of the exhaust hole. Whole of the base portion side is joined to the peripheral edge of the exhaust hole in the airbag. The flap main body covers the exhaust hole in a region between straight lines that connect one end each of a joint region on the base portion and a region on the leading end to which the coupling member is caused to be coupled.
