A vehicle seating assembly is provided herein. The vehicle seating assembly includes a seatback coupled to a seat-base. An airbag assembly is coupled to the seatback and configured to deploy therefrom. A tether is coupled to the airbag assembly and at least one of the seatback and the seat-base. An anchoring feature is coupled to at least one of the seatback and the seat-base and is configured to restrain seating-assembly-upward movement of the tether.

An inflatable restraint device for fastening to a seat of a vehicle includes at least one inflatable cushion with an outer surface and a plurality of tethers. Each tether includes a first end and a second end. The tethers are fastened at the first ends to the outer surface of the cushion and the second ends of the tethers are designed to be fastened to a seat. The tethers are designed to be releasably fastened on at least one of the ends.

An airbag device includes an airbag, a connecting member extending from the airbag, and an actuator mounted on an airbag housing for controlling an inflation manner of the airbag. The actuator includes an actuator body that includes an operating pin which penetrates the connecting member, a mounting plate that holds the actuator body and is secured to the airbag housing, and a supporting plate that is disposed in a vicinity of a leading end portion of the operating pin. The supporting plate includes a supporting hole for receiving the operating pin, and a flange that is formed in a part of a periphery of the supporting hole toward which the connecting member is released. The flange extends along an axial direction of the operating pin towards the leading end of the operating pin for supporting the leading end portion of the operating pin with its surface facing the operating pin.

A knee airbag arrangement for a vehicle. The knee airbag arrangement includes an inflatable airbag and an external tether. The airbag is adapted to be inflated to a position between an instrument panel of the vehicle and a knee/shin region of a vehicle occupant. The knee airbag is adapted to form a first deployment mode or a second deployment mode when in a deployed state. The external tether controls deployment of the airbag to the second deployment mode. The depth (D.sub.2) of the airbag in the second deployment mode is greater than a depth (D.sub.1) of the knee airbag in the first deployment mode. A depth of the airbag in a deployed state is a greatest extent of the airbag perpendicular to the instrument panel in the knee/shin region.

Lower leg airbag assembly for a vehicle

An airbag assembly including an airbag configured to be coupled to a vehicle floor of a vehicle. The airbag is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the stowed position, the airbag is deflated. In the deployed position, the airbag is inflated and spaced apart from the vehicle floor to define an aperture between the airbag and the vehicle floor. The aperture is sized to receive feet or lower leg of a vehicle occupant, thereby limiting movement of the legs of the vehicle occupant when an external force is exerted on the vehicle.

Resolution Means: A passenger restraining device of the present invention is provided with an airbag and tensile cloth. The tensile cloth is deployed to the outside of a seat by expansion and deployment of the airbag, and pulled from an upper surface of a seat back portion to a seat cushion portion. When the airbag is viewed in plan view from above during the expansion and deployment, of four regions demarcated by a first imaginary line extending in a front-rear direction of a vehicle through a center of a widest portion of the airbag on a straight line parallel to a left-right direction and a second imaginary line orthogonal to the first imaginary line and extending in the left-right direction through a center of the first imaginary line in a front-rear length of the airbag, the tension cloth passes through at least a region on an opposite side of the first imaginary line from the passenger and a vehicle front side of the second imaginary line.

Actuator devices and assemblies for automotive safety devices

An actuator device with an actuator cup having a first end and a second end. The actuator cup defines a storage chamber containing a pyrotechnic material to produce gas. The storage chamber also includes a coolant. At least one electrical connection coupled to the first end, the electrical connection in reaction initiating communication with the pyrotechnic material. The second end of the actuator cup includes a concave surface before actuation of the pyrotechnic material and during the actuation of the pyrotechnic material the second end transitions from the concave surface to a convex surface.

An assembly includes a seat having a seat bottom that includes a top surface. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the seat and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag in the inflated position includes a bottom end positioned below the top surface. The assembly includes a pyrotechnic retractor supported by the seat bottom. The assembly includes a tether connected to the bottom end of the airbag and to the pyrotechnic retractor such that actuation of the pyrotechnic retractor retracts the tether and urges the bottom end of the airbag toward the seat bottom.

Seat centric airbag restraint systems having pelvis restraint features, along with related methods. In some implementations, a first seat-mounted airbag cushion may be deployed along a first side of a vehicle occupant and a second seat-mounted airbag cushion may be deployed along a second side of the vehicle occupant. At least one wrap-around belt engaging at least one of the first and second seat-mounted airbag cushions may be released, either partially or fully, to inhibit forward translation of the vehicle occupant within a vehicle seat.
