Energy Absorbing Blends
A composite material which is elastic, which exhibits a resistive load under deformation which increases with the rate of deformation, which is unfoamed or foamed, comminuted or uncomminuted and which comprises i) a first polymer-based elastic material and ii) a second polymer-based material, different from i), which exhibits dilatancy in the absence of i) wherein ii) is entrapped in a solid matrix of i), the composite material being unfoamed or, when foamed, preparable by incorporating ii) with i) prior to foaming.
Non-uniform truss hybrid material system
Disclosed herein is an integrated combination of materials within a vesicle, comprising a space filling porous or fibrous structure and an engineered nonuniform elastic truss to form an impact mitigating Hybrid Material System (HMS). The macroscale and microscale structures within the HMS can be configured to absorb kinetic energy and reduce the forces transmitted by impacts through the HMS to any surface or body in contact with the HMS.
APPARATUSES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EQUIPMENT FOR PROTECTING THE HUMAN BODY BY ABSORBING AND DISSIPATING FORCES IMPARTED TO THE BODY
The disclosed apparatus, system and method includes at least a protective garment that prevents concussive effects on internal organs. The garment many include a garment body; and, embedded in the garment body, at least one multi-sectional pad. At least two of the multi-sections may comprise: at least one aramid layer; at least one multi-durometer foam layer having a substantially similar surface area to that provided by the at least one aramid layer; and at least one shield layer.
Energy absorbing system
A flexible energy absorbing system comprising a material coated, impregnated and/or combined with a strain rate sensitive substance is disclosed. It is formed so as to define repeating adjacent cells, each cell having a re-entrant geometry such that, upon impact, the material locally densifies at the impact site.
Protective clothing unit and use thereof
The invention relates to a protective clothing unit, in particular a textile protective clothing unit, preferably a protective clothing unit having protection against splinters and/or fragments and/or having a ballistic protective function. The invention further relates to a use of said protective clothing unit.
AN IMPACT RESISTANT PAD
An impact resistant pad, for example, for a garment such as a glove (10). The impact resistant element is formed of a plurality of upstanding interconnected walls (1) arranged in a lattice pattern, the lattice being arranged in a Penrose tiling pattern.
Body limb protection system
A body limb protection system includes an outer layer, an inner layer, and a force dampening and defusing structure. The outer layer includes a first material composition and has an exterior surface that includes a substantially planer area. The inner layer includes a second material composition and has a shape corresponding to a body limb portion. The force dampening and defusing structure is positioned between the inner layer and the outer layer. The force dampening and defusing structure has a shape corresponding to a difference between the shapes of the inner and outer layers. The force dampening and defusing structure includes a plurality of components arranged to reduce pressure on the body limb portion when a force is applied to the substantially planer area.
Chest protector
A chest pad that significantly reduces the occurrence of commotio cordis among athletes is disclosed. The chest pad may be utilized as a stand-alone chest protector intended to provide coverage primarily for the upper chest wall and the cardiac area. The chest pad may also be implanted into or utilized in traditional chest protectors that provide full coverage of the user's torso. The chest pad provides additional protection to the heart of the wearer such that impact in the heart area with a projectile is absorbed by the chest pad.
Exercise pad device and related methods
Specific implementations of an exercise pad device may include: a pad portion including a well, wherein the well may be substantially centered in the pad portion, a protective layer coupled to the pad portion, and a cover coupled to and enclosing the pad portion and the protective layer, wherein the well may be configured to reduce the localized pressure felt by a user when a barbell is placed over the pad while the user performs a hip thrust lift using the barbell.
BREATHABLE, WICKING NONWOVEN MATERIAL
An article including one or more moisture wicking layers and one or more fibrous layers. The fibrous layers may have generally vertically oriented fibers, which may be oriented generally perpendicularly to a surface having or producing moisture. The article may be adapted to remove moisture form the surface having or producing moisture. The article may be breathable. The article may be quick drying. The article may provide cushioning. The article may be a wearable item.
