20170079258 · 2017-03-23 ·

The present application is directed to a system and device for attraction of pests. This system comprises CO.sub.2-releasing microorganisms, and also nutrients specific to these microorganisms, and this system, or the device, comprises one or more biodegradable biopolymers and allows CO.sub.2, and optionally other attractants, to be released over a period of more than 20 days. Furthermore, the present application provides for the use of such a system or such a device for the attraction of pests, more particularly of maize or potato pests, such as larvae of the Western corn rootworm or wire worm. The present application is also directed, lastly, to methods for attracting pests, more particularly pests of maize or potatoes, such as the larvae of the Western corn rootworm, or for wire worms, with the systems or devices of the invention being positioned in the immediate vicinity of the plants, but preferably not directly on the plants.

Compositions, devices and methods for control of pests using vapor activity

Devices and methods for the control of pests using the vapors of a pesticidal composition. Compostions, devices and methods for the selective control of pests while not harming one or more beneficial insects are also disclosed. In some embodiments, the pests are bed bugs, fleas, lice, ticks, or the like. In some embodiments, the pests are varroa mites and the beneficial insects are honey bees.

Tarpless fumigation and powered aeration of containerized cargo within a shipping container are disclosed. A portable fumigation containment door is installed in covering relation with main rear opening of a standard cargo container. The door is adapted with a fumigant diffuser for dispersing fumigant within the container. A recirculating fan disperses and circulates fumigant within the shipping container. Powered aeration is used to aerate the container through ports in the containment door by drawing fumigant laden air from the container while drawing in ambient air, while the container refrigeration unit is used to maintain a desired temperature.
