Functionalized graphene and epoxy composite

A polymer composite formed from an epoxy based polymer and an amino-graphene. The epoxy based polymer forms a polymer matrix and the amino graphene is dispersed throughout the polymer matrix. Further, a graphene is functionalized with 3,5-dinitrophenyl groups to form functionalized graphene and one or more amine functional groups form Meisenheimer complexes with the functionalized graphene to form the amino-graphene. An associated method of making the polymer composite is also provided.

Provided is method of producing graphene directly from a pulp, paper, or paper product, the method comprising a procedure of subjecting the pulp, paper, or paper product (preferably containing post-consumer, reclaimed, or recycled product) to a graphitization treatment at a graphitization temperature in the range of 1,500° C. to 3,400° C. (preferably >2,500° C.) in a substantially non-oxidizing environment for a length of time sufficient for converting the product to a graphene material product. Preferably and typically, the method does not involve the use of an externally added undesirable chemical (other than those paper chemicals already present in the paper product) or catalyst. The method is environmentally benign, ecologically friendly, and highly scalable.

PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR LARGE-SCALE PRODUCTION OF GRAPHENE
20230102041 · 2023-03-30 ·

A process for large-scale production of graphene comprising a step of applying graphene onto a movable surface carrying multiple particles using a PECVD-based process operating at low temperatures enabling the coating of materials that are at risk of melting, decomposing or deforming at higher temperatures. The graphene can be separated from said particles, and the particles re-circulated in the process. A production unit designed for continuous or semi-continuous large-scale production of graphene and graphene-coated particles, where said graphene-coated particles are either the desired end-product, or an intermediate. Graphene-coated particles, in particular particles where the graphene forms flakes having a desired orientation in relation to a surface of said particles.

GRAPHENE OXIDE MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF
20230035140 · 2023-02-02 ·

A method of producing a multi-layered functionalised graphene oxide paper, comprises the steps of providing an aqueous suspension of oxidised graphene oxide flakes, size reducing the oxidised graphene oxide flakes in the suspension to provide an aqueous suspension of particulate oxidised graphene oxide having an average particle size of less than 1 μm and drying the aqueous suspension in a vessel to provide a multi-layered graphene oxide material. The multi-layered graphene oxide material is annealed to provide a multi-layered reduced graphene oxide material, before surface grafting functional groups to the surface of the multi-layered reduced graphene oxide material by reacting the material with a functional group precursor in the presence of plasma. The use of a graphene oxide material to treat bone defects, and as an energy storage device, is also described.

GRAPHENE NANOPLATELET BATTERIES, APPARATUS, AND COMPOSITIONS

Devices and methods are presented that comprise graphene platelets with controlled dimension and high carbon to oxygen ratio, and that further include a heteroatom or heteroionic species, an alkylammonium polysulfide, or both, preferably non-covalently bound to the graphene platelets. Such compositions have significantly improved conductive properties as opposed to unmodified graphene platelets and can be easily produced at mass quantities and low cost.
