METHODS OF MAKING HYDROUS KAOLIN CLAY AND PRODUCTS MADE THEREOF
20170298229 · 2017-10-19 ·

Disclosed herein are methods of forming a hydrous kaolin clay product. The method can include (i) refining coarse crude kaolin clay to form a refined, coarse kaolin clay, and/or refining a tertiary, fine crude kaolin clay to form a refined, fine, hydrous kaolin clay, (ii) centrifuging the refined, coarse kaolin clay; the refined, fine, hydrous kaolin clay, or a blend thereof to provide a hydrous kaolin stream, and (iii) refining the hydrous kaolin stream to form the hydrous kaolin clay product. The hydrous kaolin stream can be blended with a delaminated, coarse kaolin clay, prior to refining the hydrous kaolin stream. The hydrous kaolin clay product can have a total alkali content of 0.2% or less by weight of the hydrous kaolin clay product. Compositions including cordierite ceramics, industrial coatings, paints, adhesives, inks, and fillers comprising the hydrous kaolin clay product are also described herein.

Photosensitizer composite and uses thereof

A composite nanomaterial of ZnO impregnated by, e.g., a green copper phthalocyanine compound (CuPc) can be an efficient solar light photocatalyst for water remediation. The composite may include hollow shell microspheres and hollow nanospheres of CuPc-ZnO. CuPc may function as a templating and/or structure modifying agent, e.g., for forming hollow microspheres and/or nanospheres of ZnO particles. The composite can photocatalyze the degradation of organic pollutants such as crystal violet (CV) and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid as well as microbes in water under solar light irradiation. The ZnO—CuPc composite can be stable and recyclable under solar irradiation.

HYDROGEN STORING ALLOY AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF

This disclosure provides a hydrogen storing alloy and a production method thereof. The hydrogen storing alloy has a chemical composition of a general formula R.sub.(1-x)Mg.sub.xNi.sub.y, wherein R is one or more elements selected from rare earth elements comprising Y, x satisfies 0.05≦x≦0.3, and y satisfies 2.8≦y≦3.8. The ratio of the maximal peak intensity present in a range of 2θ=31°-33° to the maximal peak intensity present in a range of 2θ=41°-44° is 0.1 or less (including 0), as measured by X-ray diffraction in which a Cu-Kα ray is set as an X-ray source.

Uses are disclosed for a new crystalline molecular sieve designated SSZ-102 synthesized using an N,N′-dimethyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane dication as a structure directing agent. SSZ-102 has ESV framework topology.

POLYCRYSTALLINE SILICON ROD

Provided is a polycrystalline silicon rod suitable as a raw material for production of single-crystalline silicon. A crystal piece (evaluation sample) is collected from a polycrystalline silicon rod grown by a Siemens method, and a polycrystalline silicon rod in which an area ratio of a crystal grain having a particle size of 100 nm or less is 3% or more is sorted out as the raw material for production of single-crystalline silicon. When single-crystalline silicon is grown by an FZ method using the polycrystalline silicon rod as a raw material, the occurrence of dislocation is remarkably suppressed.
