HYDROTHERMAL TREATMENT OF RENEWABLE RAW MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a particulate carbon material that can be produced from renewable raw materials, in particular from biomass containing lignin, comprising: a 14C content that corresponds to that of the renewable raw materials, said content being preferably greater than 0.20 Bq/g carbon, especially preferably greater than 0.23 Bq/g carbon, but preferably less than 0.45 Bq/g carbon in each case; a carbon content in relation to the ash-free dry substance of between 60 ma. % and 80 ma. %; an STSA surface area of the primary particles of at least 5 m2/g and at most 200 m2/g; and an oil absorption value (OAN) of between 50 ml/100 g and 150 ml/100 g. The present invention also relates to a method for producing said carbon material and to the use thereof.
CARBON BLACK FOR BATTERIES, COATING LIQUID FOR BATTERIES, POSITIVE ELECTRODE FOR NONAQUEOUS BATTERIES AND NONAQUEOUS BATTERY
To provide a carbon black for batteries capable of readily obtaining a positive electrode for batteries having excellent adhesiveness, and excellent output characteristics and the cycle characteristics. A carbon black for batteries, the carbon black having a BET specific surface area measured according to JIS K6217-2 C method of 100 m.sup.2/g or larger, and a surface fluorine concentration X (unit: atom %) and a surface oxygen concentration Y (unit: atom %) measured by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) satisfying the following conditions (A) and (B),
0.3X4.0 and(A)
0.1Y3.0.(B)
SPHERICAL SILICA PARTICLE SIZE FOR RDA CONTROL
Silica particles having ad50 median particle size of at least 6 m, a ratio of (d90d10)/d50 from 1.1 to 2.4, a RDA at 20 wt. % loading from 40 to 200, and a sphericity factor (S80) of at least 0.9, are disclosed, as well as methods for making these silica particles, and dentifrice compositions containing the silica particles.
TRANSFER MEMBER FOR PRINTING SYSTEMS
There is disclosed a layered article that can be used in indirect printing, in analog or digital processes. The layered article, when configured as a transfer member, may serve to receive an ink in any form, allow the ink to be treated so as to form an ink image, and permit the application of the ink image on a substrate. The transfer member comprises a support layer and an imaging layer, which may be formed of a silicon matrix including dispersed carbon black particles. Methods for preparing the same are also disclosed.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PREPARING CARBON BLACK
Disclosed are apparatus and method for preparing carbon black, in which the carbon black may be continuously formed and activated. In one embodiment, carbon black powders formed in a combustion reactor are converted into a slurry which in turn is refluxed to the combustion reactor in a repeated manner, thereby to allow successive activation treatments. In this way, a sufficient residence time for the activation of the carbon black may be secured.
CARBON BLACK, SLURRY, AND LITHIUM ION SECONDARY BATTERY
Carbon black having a specific surface area of 150 m.sup.2/g or more and 400 m.sup.2/g or less, and a ratio (DBP/CDBP) of a DBP absorption (DBP) to a compressed DBP absorption (CDBP) of 2.0 or less.
RUBBER COMPOSITION AND TIRE
A rubber composition that is capable of providing vulcanized rubber excellent in the abrasion resistance without the deterioration of the crack resistance and the low heat generation property is provided. The rubber composition contains: (A) a rubber component; (B) carbon black having a CTAB specific surface area of 110 to 160 m.sup.2/g, a half value width D.sub.50 of a peak including a Stokes equivalent diameter D.sub.st obtained by a centrifugal sedimentation method of 60 nm or less, and D.sub.50/D.sub.st of 0.95 or less; and (C) silica having a CTAB specific surface area of 200 m.sup.2/g or more, has a total amount of a content (b) of the carbon black (B) and a content (c) of the silica (C) of 30 to 80 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component (A), and has (b)/(c) of (60 to 85)/(40 to 15).
