A wastewater treatment plant includes an anaerobic membrane bioreactor, AnMBR, unit configured to receive wastewater and to produce (1) a final permeate and (2) a gas; an oxidation disinfection unit configured to receive the final permeate and to remove biological and chemical contaminants from the final permeate to generate a final effluent; and an energy recovery unit configured to receive the gas from the AnMBR unit and generate electrical energy. The wastewater treatment plant does not use chlorination.
Method and device for controlling pollutants in basin water resources cycling utilization in agricultural activity areas
The present invention relates to a method and a device for controlling pollutants in basin water resources cycling utilization in agricultural activity areas. The method includes: providing an acidification tank, an aeration tank and a multi-media constructed wetland connected in sequence, which are 4˜10 m far from basin revetment, feeding basin water into the constructed wetland, adsorbing or degrading heavy metals and organic pollutants by the constructed wetland, and then transporting the treated basin water to the agricultural activity areas. The present invention effectively controls the content of heavy metals that will enter the agricultural activity areas, fundamentally reduces the content of heavy metals in the crops, promotes the growth of the crops, maintains sustainable and healthy development of agriculture, and therefore guarantees human health and safety.
DATA-DRIVEN RECIRCULATING AQUACULTURE SYSTEM
A recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) is disclosed, which includes a main tank, in which fish or shellfish are farmed; a first reactor fluidically connected to the main tank, wherein the first reactor is a batch reactor that operates under anoxic conditions; a second reactor fluidically connected to the main tank, wherein the second reactor is a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR);a feed stream fluidically connected to the main tank; and a data-driven controller operably connected to the first reactor, the second reactor, and the feed stream, wherein the data-driven controller is configured to bring and maintain the system (RAS) at a desired state.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR ANAEROBICALLY TREATING WASTEWATER
Anaerobic wastewater treatment systems, devices and methods complete three-phase separation of biogas, liquids and solids (e.g., biomass) using overlapped gas hoods or baffles and one or more conically-shaped settlers having a varying cross-sectional area.
BIO-ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSOR AND METHOD FOR OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE OF A WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
The present disclosure generally relates to a system for monitoring and/or controlling one or more agents, such as cleaning agents, in a wastewater treatment system. The system comprises a bio-electrochemical sensor for monitoring metabolic activity of a population of exo-electrogenic bacteria and providing an electrical output corresponding with the metabolic activity, where the bio-electrochemical sensor comprises an electrode pair and a power source for delivering a voltage across the electrode pair, and an electrical output analyzer for analyzing the electrical output and correlating the electrical output with the one or more agents in the wastewater treatment system. a change in electrical output beyond a threshold indicates that an adjustment in the delivery of the one or more agents is needed. a method and sensor for monitoring and/or controlling a cleaning process in a wastewater treatment system are also provided. The system, method, and sensor disclosed herein are particularly useful for cleaning membranes incorporated in a wastewater treatment process.
Treatment of waste products with anaerobic digestion
A waste stream is treated by anaerobic digestion. A process is described involves a step of separating solids from digestate, and returning separated solids to a digester. Optionally, there may be a step of solids separation in which larger solids are removed from the digester. A process and apparatus are described for treating waste sludge from a wastewater treatment plant in an anaerobic digester. Feed sludge is thickened or solids are separated from digestate and returned to the digester. Additional co-digestion waste may be added to the digester. The process and apparatus may be used in a retrofit of an existing wastewater treatment plant.

Fail Safe Flushing BioReactor for Selenium Water Treatment
A biological reactor system treats concentrated contaminated water with a combination of upflow and downflow bioreactors that are downstream from a reverse osmosis or other concentrator. The system may have a fail safe configuration where flush water may be introduced to the reactors in the event of a power failure or when taking the reactors offline. Many reverse osmosis systems introduce antiscalant treatments upstream so that the reverse osmosis filters do not scale. However, such treatments result in superconcentrated conditions of the antiscalants in the contaminated water processed by the bioreactors. A flushing system may deconcentrate the bioreactors to prevent the antiscalants from precipitating and fouling the bioreactors.
Method and apparatus for wastewater treatment using screens
An apparatus and method for selecting and retaining solids in an activated sludge process for the improving wastewater treatment using screens. The screens can be used to separate and retain solids based on size or compressibility. The screens are used to separate and select for slow growing organisms, faster settling organisms, or materials added to absorb, treat or remove constituents in the activated sludge process.
