A rural landscape-type nitrogen and phosphorus ecological interception ditch system and a farmland drainage nitrogen and phosphorus interception method using the system are provided. The system includes a sediment buffer zone, an ecological ditch unit, an interception-conversion pool and a field ridge hedge fence; the sediment buffer zone, the ecological ditch unit, and the interception-conversion pool are sequentially arranged in a continuous ditch along a direction of a water flow; and the field ridge hedge fence is arranged on field ridges on one side or both sides of the ditch. The present disclosure can, on the basis of not affecting normal production functions of a farmland, further exert an ecological role of the farmland, and use the farmland as an assimilation sink for environmental nitrogen and phosphorus, so as to optimize drainage water quality and improve a farmland ecological environment.

Interchangeable system for overflow treatment and tertiary filtration for wastewater treatment facilities

Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) events require certain minimum treatment, before discharge, according to EPA regulations. However, these events are infrequent, and CSO treatment systems remain idle most of the time. Tertiary filtration is typically used to polish off the secondary treated water in order to remove suspended matter, phosphorous, etc. Tertiary systems are usually designed to handle design flows and remain active most of the time. These are two independent unit operations requiring major capital investment and operational expense. According to this invention an interchangeable system is able to switch a tertiary treatment reactor back and forth between two applications ensuring seamless operation, smooth transition and significant cost savings for treatment facilities.

Methods for sustainable membrane distillation concentration of hyper saline streams

A novel method of producing concentrated streams or otherwise useful hypersaline brines from a source of non-potable or otherwise impaired water is provided. The method comprises feeding the source water into the feed side of a membrane distillation unit while simultaneously feeding a distillate stream through the receiving side of the distillation unit. The feed and receiving sides are separated by a hydrophobic, microporous membrane that allows water vapor to flux through the membrane to the receiving side. As the membrane becomes clogged with particulates, the unit can be subjected to stream flow reversal and/or temperature gradient reversal in order to remove those particulates and restore previous vapor flux levels, after which previous operations can be resumed.

Retrofit bottle filtration device

An apparatus provides a water bottle mouthpiece attachment which can filter microplastics and other contaminant substances from bottles, particularly disposable plastic water bottles. The filter of the apparatus includes a filter housing that is attached to a cap that fits inside a common plastic bottle. Soft rubber rings, tapering from to radially larger on the top to radially smaller on the bottom in a generally conical fashion, ensure a watertight fit to the inside opening of any drinking bottle. A friction closing/opening spout at the top of the filter enables selective opening of the bottle and prevents accidental spillage of bottle contents. The filter housing is also offset from the center, giving space to an air valve that allows air to enter the bottle without disturbing the flow of water from the bottle, thus providing optimal lamellar flow without allowing fluid to escape through the air valve during consumption.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

A fluid management system can include a first chamber, a diffusion plate positioned in the first chamber configured to receive fluid and to direct the fluid along a bypass fluid flow path or a primary fluid flow path, a riser pipe positioned within the first chamber that conveys fluid from the diffusion plate into a second chamber, and a filtering apparatus positioned in the second chamber. The filtering apparatus can include a plate having a first opening, one or more modules coupled to the plate having one or more perforations and a second opening corresponding to the first opening, and filter media disposed adjacent to the one or more modules, and a slab positioned above the filtering apparatus.

Systems and devices for treating water runoff. A water runoff treatment device includes a primary receptacle and a secondary receptacle separated by a barrier having at least one treatment port to permit water to pass from the primary receptacle to the secondary receptacle. A runoff water inlet on one side of the primary receptacle receives drain flow into the primary receptacle. At least one treatment tank having a treatment medium is mounted over a corresponding one of the treatment ports. The at least one treatment tank includes a treatment tank opening to receive water for treatment by the treatment medium. The treatment tank connects to the treatment port to pass treated water into the secondary receptacle. A drain port is formed in the secondary receptacle to pass treated water out and into a flow of treated water.

Modular porous swale

A modular porous swale. The modular porous swale may comprise a porous concrete block and filtration joint. The porous concrete block may snugly fit within a trench having a lower portion filled with an absorption media. The absorption media may include gravel, activated alumina, bone char, or an activated alumina and bone char mixture. The porous concrete block may have a top surface inwardly-sloped to a nadir. The filtration joint may be disposed within the porous concrete block and along the nadir. The liner may cover one or more sides of the porous concrete block. The perforated pipe may be located within the absorption media. The filtration joint may substantially align above a portion of the perforated pipe when the modular porous swale is installed within the trench.

HORIZONTAL FLOW BIOFILTER SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF

A horizontal flow water treatment method and wetland biofilter apparatus provides a chamber with impermeable outer walls spaced away from permeable interior walls of a media filtration bed such that a catch basin is formed between the outer walls and the interior walls. The catch basin creates an open area around the perimeter of the interior walls for influent water to fill within the open area before penetrating the filtration media, providing a large surface area for influent water to interact with the media filtration bed. The influent water enters the catch basin in a horizontal flow path to provide for pre-settling of particulates before making contact with the filtration media. The biofilter design increases the available surface area of the media filtration bed by up to four times for a given volume of water, and thereby minimizes the loading or infiltration rate on the media filtration bed.
