Method and System for Batch Multi-Effect Distillation

Methods and systems for conducting batch multi-effect distillation are disclosed. A multi-effect distillation system and one or more isolation devices are provided. A feed stream, consisting of water and a solute, is passed from a feed source into a brine side of the plurality of heat exchangers. The feed source is isolated from the plurality of heat exchangers by closing the one or more isolation devices. A first of the plurality of heat exchangers is heated by the heat source. A steam stream and a brine concentrate stream are produced in all but a last of the plurality of heat exchangers. A condensate stream from the steam stream is produced in all but the first of the plurality of heat exchangers. A warmed feed stream is produced in the last of the plurality of heat exchangers.

POINT-OF-USE SOLIDS INTERCEPTOR

A solids interceptor and methods of using the same. The solids interceptor includes a tank including an open end, a wastewater inlet, and one or more wastewater outlets. A basket assembly is removably attachable to the tank via the open end between an operable position and a removed position. The basket assembly may seal the open end when in the operable position and expose the open end of the tank to a surrounding environment when in the removed position. A first and second outlet may extend away from an interior of the tank in a first and direction, respectively, with the second direction being oriented at an angle with respect to the first direction. The basket assembly may include a seal that is compressed about a circumferentially extending corner provided on the tank to thereby seal the open end of the tank and the plumbing system.

LAUNDRY TREATING APPLIANCE HAVING A WASH WATER TREATING ASSEMBLY

A laundry treating appliance includes a cabinet defining an interior. A rotatable treating chamber is located within the interior. A liquid recirculation system is fluidly coupled with the rotatable treating chamber. A liquid treating assembly is fluidly coupled with the liquid recirculation system. The liquid treating assembly includes a processing tank at least partially defining a liquid treating chamber configured to receive dirty wash water supplied from the liquid recirculation system for liquid treatment.

AUXILIARY GRAY WATER SOURCE DEVICE FOR COMMERCIAL KITCHENS

An auxiliary gray water supply device captures used wash water from a commercial warewashing machine for supply to a pre-rinse station without substantial modification of the commercial warewashing machine. The captured wash water and treatment agent are delivered to a pre-rinse station for pre-rinsing of dishes that will be washed within the commercial warewashing machine.

Antibacterial glass

An antimicrobial glass tablet that releases silver ions when brought into direct contact with water, containing: Ag.sub.2O within the range of above 5% by weight but less than 10% by weight, ZnO below 10% by weight, P.sub.2O.sub.5, CaO, K.sub.2O, Al.sub.2O.sub.3, and MgO.

Self-contained, PV-powered domestic toilet and wastewater treatment system

A wastewater treatment system and method for remediating wastewater and human waste that is self-contained and that has no connection to a municipal wastewater system and no connection to an electrical grid. The domestic toilet and wastewater treatment system can be powered by a photovoltaic panel as a source of electricity. The system includes an electrochemical cell that allows a waste stream to be disinfected in a few hours to a condition where no viable bacterial colonies can be cultured. The system produces a liquid stream that is suitable for system flushing or for uses in which non-potable water is acceptable. The system can generate hydrogen as a product that can be used to generate power. The system can generate nitrate, urea, ammonia and phosphate for use as fertilizer. The disinfected residual organic solids are also completely disinfected for potential use as an organic soil amendment for agriculture.

INTAKE FILTER FOR WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM WITH PRESSURE ACTIVATED BACKWASH VALVE

This specification describes an intake filter for use, for example, in a system that collects greywater from baths or showers for re-use in toilet flushing. The intake filter provides essentially dead-end filtration. An influent by-pass may be provided, but the filter is cleaned as required to reduce use of the by-pass. Cleaning is performed when permeability of the filter declines. An upstream sensor may be used to detect the permeability of the filter. In one cleaning method, flowing water, optionally with air, is used to backwash the filter. The impulse of the flowing water also moves one or more valves to direct backwash water to a sanitary drain. For example, pumped effluent may impinge against a first flap to close an effluent drain, the first flap being mechanically linked to open a flap covering the sanitary drain.

GREY WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF TREATING GREY WATER

A grey water treatment system includes a first tank configured to receive grey water via a grey water supply conduit and that comprises an overflow, a second tank configured to store grey water, and at least one transfer conduit configured to at least transfer grey water between the first tank and the second tank. A control is configured to maintain a water level in said first tank sufficiently close to the overflow to allow floating contaminants to pass over the overflow. A method of treating grey water includes: receiving grey water in a first tank of a grey water treatment system; transferring grey water via at least one transfer conduit between the first tank and a second tank of said treatment system; and controlling a water level in said first tank sufficiently close to an overflow of said first tank to allow floating contaminants to pass over the overflow.

DETERGENT COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR DETECTING PRESENCE OF A MARKER MOLECULE IN A SOLUTION

The present invention provides a detergent composition for use in a water-utilizing appliance, that allows for selection of an enhanced mode of operation of the appliance, based on the detection of a marker molecule in the solution of the detergent composition, where the enhanced mode comprises treatment of waste water generated during use of the appliance. The present invention also provides a method of selecting an enhanced mode of operation in a washing machine including a sensor assembly for detecting the presence of a marker molecule in a solution of the detergent composition.

Catalytic water treatment with in-situ production of hydrogen peroxide

This application relates to a water treatment process. The process comprises contacting contaminated water with a catalyst, introducing hydrogen and an oxygen-containing gas into the contaminated water, and reacting hydrogen and oxygen in the presence of the catalyst and the contaminated water.
