A METHOD FOR RECYCLING WATER AND A WATER RECYCLING DEVICE
The present inventive concept relates to a method for recycling water in a water recycling device, the method comprising: receiving used water via a drain; determining a water quality measure of the used water; if the water; quality measure of the water is above a first quality threshold, feeding the used water to a valve arrangement; in the valve arrangement, forming water to be treated by providing external water, the used water or a combination of the external water and the used water; generating treated water by treating the water to be treated using a water treatment arrangement; and feeding the treated water to an outlet. The present inventive concept also relates to a water recycling device.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM WITH VERTICAL TUBES AND METHOD THEREOF
A wastewater treatment system, including: an equalization tank arranged to receive wastewater; a flow tube including an interior space bounded by at least one side wall of the flow tube; a plurality of media particles disposed within the interior space; and a pump arranged to pump the wastewater from the equalization tank to the flow tube. The plurality of media particles has a mean diameter of at least 4 millimeters. The wastewater is arranged to drain to the equalization tank through the plurality of media particles and the interior space. The flow tube is arranged to reduce a concentration of an organic contaminant in the wastewater.
Fusion proteins, recombinant bacteria, and methods for using recombinant bacteria
Fusion proteins containing a targeting sequence, an exosporium protein, or an exosporium protein fragment that targets the fusion protein to the exosporium of a Bacillus cereus family member are provided. Recombinant Bacillus cereus family members expressing such fusion proteins are also provided. Genetically inactivated Bacillus cereus family members and recombinant Bacillus cereus family members that overexpress exosporium proteins are also provided. Seeds coated with the recombinant Bacillus cereus family members and methods for using the recombinant Bacillus cereus family members (e.g., for stimulating plant growth) are also provided. Various modifications of the recombinant Bacillus cereus family members that express the fusion proteins are further provided. Fusion proteins comprising a spore coat protein and a protein or peptide of interest, recombinant bacteria that express such fusion proteins, seeds coated with such recombinant bacteria, and methods for using such recombinant bacteria (e.g., for stimulating plant growth) are also provided.
Biological wastewater treatment system containing a salt-rejecting membrane filter and recycle conduit
A wastewater treatment system includes a biological reactor having anaerobic, anoxic, and aerobic chambers. A lift station including a pump is operatively connected to a tertiary filter downstream of the biological reactor. The lift station receives biologically treated liquid from the tertiary filter and pumps the liquid from the lift station. A filtration subsystem is operatively connected to the lift station. The filtration subsystem receives and filters the liquid pumped by the lift station. The filtration subsystem includes a preliminary filter and a salt-rejecting membrane filter having a recycle conduit operatively connected to recirculate salt-rejecting membrane filter, thereby forming a salt concentration loop between biological reactor and the salt-rejecting membrane filter. A post-filtration subsystem is operatively connected to receive salt-rejecting membrane filter permeate, and includes an adsorbent and oxidation system.
Sanitizing system and method for a septic system
An enhanced septic system includes a storage tank having an inlet that receives liquid gray water from a standard septic system having at least one digester and a pump located in the storage tank. The pump is coupled to an actuator to selectively provide power to the pump from a power supply to pump the gray water from the storage tank when the gray water reaches a predetermined level within the storage tank. The system also includes an outlet pipe coupled to the storage tank and to receive gray water pumped from the storage tank by the pump, at least one ultraviolet light in communication with the outlet pipe, and a detector to determine when the pump is actuated and to turn on the at least one ultraviolet light upon actuation of the pump.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT DEVICE AND METHOD
Disclosed are methods and devices that are useful for processing wastewater, such as stormwater runoff, greywater, blackwater and combinations thereof. In some embodiments of the devices, water is drawn from relatively deep in a microbial processing container, aerated with a Venturi air pump, and subsequently expelled to a relatively shallow part of the microbial processing container.
APPARATUS FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL REGENERATIVE TREATMENT OF WATER AND METHODS OF USE
Apparatus and methods are provided for the targeted removal and degradation of at least one contaminant from a fluid stream with at least one physical retention unit containing a retention material configured to receive and capture the at least one contaminant from the fluid stream, and at least one electrochemical cell having a first and a second electrode, operatively connected to the physical retention unit, wherein at least one oxidizing agent(s) generated by electro-oxidative reactions of the at least one electrochemical cell are supplied to the physical retention unit to contact and degrade the at least one contaminants retained and captured within the retention material.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING GREY WATER ONBOARD AN AIRCRAFT
Disclosed are systems and methods of managing grey water or other recycled water onboard an aircraft based on demand within the aircraft. In some cases, the grey water is obtained from a lavatory or galley sink of the aircraft and is treated to purify and/or filter the grey water. The treated grey water can be routed within the aircraft according to a control scheme that accounts for demand within the aircraft. For example, some or all of the treated water may undergo electrolysis to produce oxygen gas (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2), some or all of which may be fed into the fuel cell system and used in a chemical reaction to produce electrical energy and other fuel cell by-products that can be directed to various aircraft systems and/or the aircraft cabin/lavatories.
System for treating emissions from a vehicle
A system for treating emissions from a vehicle includes an ozone generator, a first holding tank, and an exhaust vent. The first holding tank is downstream from the ozone generator and defines a volume for liquid waste beneath a void space. The exhaust vent is downstream from the first holding tank and outside of the vehicle. A supply conduit connects the ozone generator to the void space of the first holding tank. An exhaust conduit connects the void space of the first holding tank to the exhaust vent. The ozone generator, supply conduit, void space of the first holding tank, exhaust conduit, and exhaust vent establish a thermal driving head from the ozone generator through the void space of the first holding tank to the exhaust vent.
