System and Process for Membrane Fouling Control, A Membrane Fouling Control Additive, an Upgrade Kit and an Upgrade Method
A system for membrane fouling control configured to run one or more filter cycles, wherein each filter cycle of the one or more filter cycles includes an operation mode and a cleaning mode. The system includes: a first conduct portion; a second conduct portion; a membrane arranged between the first conduct portion and the second conduct portion. The membrane is configured in the operation mode to filter a liquid to be filtered by conducting it from the first conduct portion to the second conduct portion. A fouling control means filled with fouling control particles is added in the operation mode in the first conduct portion so that a dynamic protective layer is formed on the membrane. The fouling control particles are mineral particles based on calcium and/or magnesium.
DESALINATION OF SALT WATERS BY SALT REPELLENT TECHNIQUE
A novel Salt Repellent Technique is presented to remove all inorganic salts from seawater to get potable water. The repellent additives recommended throws out all salts of sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and the like ions from seawater and paves way to get salt free potable water. The conventional washing of ice crystals is completely avoided due to the presence of additives. This technique helps to remove last traces of salts from seawater and analogous waters, without undertaking the conventional washing process. The new salt repellent process assures of high water recovery, ease of operation, lesser pollution, smaller plants, simpler machinery and technology, lower energy cost, nil or lesser pre-treatment and recovery of valuable by-products. To reduce the TDS still lower, it is recommended to have a simplified reverse osmosis unit in addition, as a post-operative arrangement.
FLOATING-ISLAND TYPE ARTIFICIAL WETLAND TREATMENT SYSTEM BASED ON LAKE CENTER PLATFORM
A floating-island type artificial wetland treatment system based on a lake center platform is provided. The system includes a lake center platform, a water inflow sub-system including water inflow filled columns, a water drainage sub-system including water drainage filled columns, a water collection and distribution sub-system including water collection tanks, and a platform wetland sub-system; the water drainage filled column is located in a center of a bottom of the lake center platform; the plurality of water inflow filled columns are uniformly distributed at edges of the bottom of the lake center platform with the water drainage filled column as a center; the platform wetland sub-system is located in a center region of an upper surface of the lake center platform; and the plurality of water collection tanks are uniformly distributed at edges of the upper surface of the lake center platform with the platform wetland sub-system as a center.
System and Method for Transporting Particulates in Water Using Directional Bubble Walls
A system of directional bubble walls includes a plurality of bubble walls. Each bubble wall may have a shape elongated in one linear direction and have multiple air outlets directed in a perpendicular direction to the elongated direction. The air generated out of air outlets forms a blockade that either blocks particulates in water from moving through it or pushes the particulates away from it. The bubble walls may be placed in parallel to each other and separated from each other by a distance. An air source connected to the bubble walls may sequentially turn on and off the bubble walls such that the water particulates may be removed and pushed in a desired direction. The bubble walls may also be turned on simultaneously, and other modes of operation may be adapted to effectively remove and move water particulates.
Ocean alkalinity system and method for capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide
An ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) system that reduces atmospheric CO.sub.2 and mitigates ocean acidification by electrochemically processing feedstock solution (e.g., seawater or brine) to generate an alkalinity product that is then supplied to the ocean. The OAE system includes a base-generating device and a control circuit disposed within a modular system housing deployed near a salt feedstock. The base-generating device (e.g., a bipolar electrodialysis (BPED) system) generates a base substance that is then used to generate the ocean alkalinity product. The control circuit controls the base-generating device such that the alkalinity product is supplied to the ocean only when (1) sufficient low/zero-carbon electricity is available, (2) it is safe to operate the base-generating device, and (3) supplying the alkalinity product will not endanger sea life. Modified BPED systems include features that facilitate autonomous system operations including enhanced maintenance cycle operations and a reduced reliance on external fresh water sources.
Algae scrubber filter system
An algae scrubber system operates via a flow of water and a power source. The algae scrubber system does not require a bubbler. The rate of flow of the water may be variable. The algae scrubber system includes a screen that is configured to be removed from the system without shutting off the flow of water through the system and without spilling the water. The system includes a main body with a water distributor providing water to a tray. A screen hangs from the tray to and grow light(s) encourage algae growth on the screen.
SYSTEMS, APPARATUS, AND METHODS FOR ALGAE CONTROL SYSTEM USING A CARBON NANOTUBE SONIC GENERATOR
An underwater sound generation device may be used for effective control of algae and other microorganisms in ponds and lakes. The sound projector may comprise a thermoacoustic sound transducer and an electronic unit for controlling the operation of the projector. The thermoacoustic projector may include a freestanding carbon nanotube (CNT) film encapsulated between two vibrating plates. The inert gas filled thin acoustical cavity provides a piston-type displacement of the plates and supports a high-temperature operation. A power supply driver, controlling the operation of the sound radiating system, may include a pulse generator, high-power switch amplifier, and a cable, connecting the projector with an electronic driver. The sound control system may provide an omnidirectional sound pressure level in a wide frequency range to affect the algae growth ecosystem over large distances.
