Lake rake
The present invention relates to a multipurpose tool that is configured to collect seaweed and other debris from the edges of a body of water and from shorelines. The tool has an elongated handle having an ergonomic grip, a head portion, a plurality of tines extending from the head portion, and a removably attached net-like filter. Each tine has an elongated length with a downwardly extending distal portion and is supported by a curved brace, wherein the curved brace extends laterally across the tines for providing mechanical support to the tines. The tines are oriented in a tapered manner having less spacing between the tines near the head portion and more spacing between the tines at the distal end which allows the width of the tines to be larger at the distal end than near the head portion.
Toothed drum type oil recovery device
Provided is a toothed drum type oil recovery device, which includes: a recovery drum having a center coupled to a rotary shaft and having a plurality of tooth units formed around an outer circumference thereof, wherein one side of the recovery drum is disposed in the water to which oil is spilled so that the oil is recovered by the tooth unit at one side of the recovery drum according to the rotation; and a separation unit containing an oil separating liquid and disposed at the other side of the recovery drum, wherein when the tooth unit moves onto the oil separating liquid at the other side of the recovery drum according to the rotation of the recovery drum, the oil separating liquid is introduced into a space between the tooth units adjacent to each other by means of a capillary action to separate the oil from the tooth unit.
Universal chemical processor with radioisotope source
A universal chemical processor (UCP) including a reactor vessel having a central longitudinal axis and main chamber comprises a first inlet port for a main feedstock, a second inlet port for a fluidizing medium and a third inlet port for one or more reactants. The UCP also includes a reactive radioactive chemical processor (R.sup.2CP) that contains a radioactive element positioned extending along the longitudinal axis in the main chamber. In operation, a fluidized bed can be supported in the main chamber when a fluidizing medium and feedstock are supplied to the main chamber through the first and second inlet ports and the radioactive element of the R.sup.2CP emits ionizing radiation that is capable of ionizing feedstock and reactants, inducing chemical reactions, and sterilizing and decomposing any organic materials within a radiation zone.
DISSEMINATED NEOPLASIA CELLS AND METHODS OF THEIR USE TO CONTROL INVASIVE OR PEST SPECIES
The current disclosure provides methods and compositions useful in preparing transformed and immortalized zebra and quagga mussel cells that function as disseminated neoplastic (DN) cells, as well as the cells produced thereby. In particular, these cells are immortalized through modifying expression of the TERT nucleic acid and/or protein. Also provided are methods for using such mussel DNCs in cell culture, in vitro, and within live mussels in the lab or in the wild, to control mussel populations such as invasive zebra mussel or quagga mussel populations.
Systems and Methods for Gas-Liquid Contactors for Rapid Carbon Capture
Systems and methods of gas-liquid contactors for direct ocean capture and/or direct air capture are described.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING COMPETING ANIONS FROM PER- AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES (PFAS) IN A FLOW OF WATER
A system for separating competing anions from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in a flow of water contaminated with PFAS and elevated levels of competing anions that includes a separation subsystem which receives the flow of water contaminated with PFAS and elevated levels of competing anions and separates competing anions from the PFAS and concentrates the PFAS to produce a treated flow of water having separated competing anions therein and a flow of water having a majority of PFAS therein. At least one anion exchange vessel having an anion exchange resin therein receives the flow of water having a majority of PFAS therein and removes PFAS from the water to produce a flow of treated water having a majority of the PFAS removed. The separation of competing anions by the separation subsystem increases the treatment capacity of the anion exchange resin to remove PFAS from the contaminated water.
Absorbent and method of making and use of the same
An absorbent compound and method of making the same, where the absorbent compound includes an amine oxide that comprises about 30% to about 55% of the absorbent compound and a polymer that comprises about 30% to about 55% of the absorbent compound.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INCREASING EVAPORATION FOR FLUID BODIES
The present disclosure includes systems and methods for enhancing evaporation rates of a fluid, such as fluid including dissolved solids (e.g., a wastewater pond). In one example, a system includes a pump configured to pressurize air and an agitation assembly fluidly coupled to the pump, where the agitation assembly is configured to emit an air stream that impacts a top surface of the fluid body to generate droplets.
Water purification system
A water purification system and method embodying a submerged conduit with a semipermeable surface, thereby leveraging water pressure to cost-effectively and energy-efficiently purify the water that permeates the semipermeable surface. A intake conduit may provide the semipermeable surface, wherein the system contemplates rotating the intake conduit so that as it rotates it engages brushes or blades that clear the semipermeable surface of obstructions.
Filter unit
The invention relates to a filter unit (1, 19), having: at least one warp-knitted spacer (3) which comprises a first and a second cover layer (4; 5) having in each case a multiplicity of openings (6) which are delimited by peripheral regions (7), wherein threads (8) extend from the peripheral regions (7) of the first cover layer (4) to peripheral regions (7) of the second cover layer (5), and wherein the at least one warp-knitted spacer is rolled, twisted, and/or at least in one portion is compressed.
