An apparatus for use in water purification including a cylindrical vessel comprising, within the cylindrical vessel, a first set of hydrocyclones, at least one intermediate set of hydrocyclones, and a final set of hydrocyclones, the sets of hydrocyclones arranged in series. In one embodiment, the hydrocyclones within each set of hydrocyclones are arranged in a parallel configuration, wherein each set of hydrocyclones is defined by a divider which causes the hydrocyclones in each set to operate in parallel. In one embodiment each hydrocyclone has a tangential inlet disposed within an inlet chamber of the cylindrical vessel and in fluid communication with an inlet connected to the inlet chamber, an overflow disposed within an overflow chamber of the cylindrical vessel, and an underflow disposed within an underflow chamber of the cylindrical vessel. In one embodiment, the cylindrical vessel comprises a first set of hydrocyclones and a second, final set of hydrocyclones.

BALLAST WATER TREATMENT APPARATUS
20220041471 · 2022-02-10 · ·

To provide a ballast water treatment apparatus capable of determining a proper operation mode.

According to the present invention, a ballast water treatment apparatus includes a flow rate adjustment section configured to adjust the treatment flow rate of the flowing ballast water, an ultraviolet reactor capable of adjusting an ultraviolet irradiation amount, a transmittance acquisition section configured to acquire the ultraviolet transmittance of the flowing ballast water, and a control section configured to control the flow rate adjustment section and the ultraviolet reactor in one operation mode selected from multiple operation modes. In each of the multiple operation modes, the treatment flow rate and the ultraviolet irradiation amount are defined for each ultraviolet transmittance. The control section acquires the ultraviolet transmittance from the transmittance acquisition section before the purification treatment, and determines a proper operation mode based on the ultraviolet transmittance as a determination reference.

ELECTROLYTIC BIOCIDE GENERATING SYSTEM FOR USE ON-BOARD A WATERCRAFT
20210331948 · 2021-10-28 ·

The present disclosure relates to a biocide generating system for inhibiting bio-fouling within a water system of a watercraft. The water system is configured to draw water from a body of water on which the watercraft is supported. The biocide generating system includes an electrode arrangement adapted to be incorporated as part of an electrolytic cell through which the water of the water system flows.

Ballast water management system

Techniques and systems for neutralizing discharge waters from ballast and/or cooling water biocidal treatment and disinfection systems are provided. The systems utilize, inter alia, oxidation reduction potential control to regulate the dechlorination of an electrocatalytically generated biocidal agent to allowable discharge levels in ship buoyancy systems and ship cooling water systems.

SYSTEM FOR FLUID STERILIZATION

A system of fluid sterilization of fluid of vessel is provided, such as sterilization of ballast water for a water vessel. The system incorporates a heating section to heat pressurized fluid above prescribed thresholds for temperature, pressure, and duration (e.g., dwell time) to achieve desired levels of sterilization, including a heat exchanger to both (a) preheat fluid prior to entering the heating section and (b) cool outflow of the heating apparatus, in which fluid travels through the apparatus by operating valves forward and aft of the heating section in a controlled sequence to facilitate flow through the system while maintaining prescribed pressure and temperature profiles. The system operates within prescribed ranges of pressure and temperature to achieve the desired level of sterilization without need of maintaining a fixed temperature or a fixed pressure within any portion of the system, including the heating section.
