Surface-treated calcium carbonate and phyllosilicate and its use in water purification
The invention relates to a process for the purification of water and/or dewatering of sludges and/or sediments, to the use of a combination of a phyllosilicate and a surface-treated calcium carbonate for water purification and/or dewatering of sludges and/or sediments, as well as to the use of a combination of a phyllosilicate and a surface-treated calcium carbonate for reducing the amount of polymeric flocculation aids in water and/or sludges and/or sediments and to a composite material comprising at least one surface-treated calcium carbonate, at least one phyllosilicate and impurities originated from different sources obtainable by said process.
Antimicrobial capture system with carbon container
According to one embodiment, a container for removing antimicrobials from an antimicrobial composition includes a container body having an exterior and an interior. The interior is at least partially filled with carbon granules configured to remove a portion of the antimicrobials in the antimicrobial composition. The interior is further filled with a liquid to at least a level that completely submerges each of the carbon granules. The container further includes an agitator configured to agitate at least a portion of the carbon granules. The container further includes a drain and a drainage valve. The location of the drainage valve is configured to prevent the drainage valve from lowering a current level of the liquid below the level that completely submerges each of the carbon granules.
SCALE INHIBITOR METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS
A method of scale inhibition treatment of a water system comprising introducing an aqueous scale inhibiting composition into the water system wherein the aqueous scale inhibiting composition comprises a carboxylated hyperbranched polyglycerol.
REMOVING NITRATE FROM WATER
A sulphur denitrification system includes a liquid input fluidly coupled to a source of saltwater that includes nitrate; a liquid output fluidly coupled to the source of saltwater; a plurality of vertically-oriented tanks, at least one of the tanks including a liquid inlet that is fluidly coupled to the liquid input to receive a flow of the saltwater, a volume configured to enclose a plurality of sulphur particles that support denitrification bacteria that biologically transform the nitrate into at least one of nitrous oxide or nitrogen gas, and a liquid outlet fluidly coupled to the liquid output and the liquid inlets of the tanks; and a circulation system configured to circulate a portion of the saltwater though the liquid input to the liquid inlets of the plurality of tanks, through the plurality of tanks, and from the liquid outlets of the tanks to the liquid output and the liquid inlets of the tanks.
NUTRIENTS REMOVAL VIA SIMULTANEOUS NITRIFICATION AND DENITRIFICATION COUPLING WITH PHOSPHATE ACCUMULATION
The present invention relates to methods for water treatment. in particular using a novel Thauera species that is capable of removing nitrogen via simultaneous nitrification and denitrification. The novel Thauera species may be further capable of phosphate accumulation in the cells. The invention also relates to an isolated Thauera sp. strain SND5 (accession number: CGMCC 21549). The invention further relates to reactors for use in carrying out the methods as described herein and bioprocesses that are carried out using said reactor.
METHODS FOR DYNAMICALLY VARYING CHEMICAL ADDITIVE FLOWRATE TO TREAT WASTEWATER IN REAL TIME AND SYSTEMS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME
Introduced here are systems for treating a wastewater stream to produce an effluent stream. A treatment system can include a sensor for measuring a characteristic of the wastewater stream and/or the effluent stream, a pump for supplying a chemical additive to the wastewater stream, and a controller for varying the flow rate of the chemical additive based on real-time analysis of measurements generated by the sensor. The characteristic could be, for example, turbidity, pH, total suspended solids (TSS), etc. Some embodiments of the treatment system further include a flow meter for measuring flow of the wastewater stream. In such embodiments, the controller may vary the flow rate of the chemical additive based on the measurements generated by the sensor and the flow meter.
Method for treating condensed vapor streams containing odorous compounds
The invention relates to methods and apparatuses for treating a condensate stream from a condenser that contains odorous compounds, such as various condensate streams produced in a rendering process. In one embodiment, the condensate stream is treated by adding an oxidizer to the liquid condensate stream to oxidize odor-causing compounds in the stream prior to being treated in a waste water pre-treatment system. In this manner, the odor resulting from these compounds can be reduced or eliminated.
Multi-injection steam type reactor and organic waste processing apparatus including same
A reactor for processing organic waste includes a steam supply pipe installed in a reaction vessel such that steam supplied from an external steam supply device can be supplied into the inside of the reaction vessel. The steam supply pipe has a plurality of steam supply holes so as to supply the steam supplied from the steam supply device to the waste in the reaction vessel through the holes. An organic waste processing apparatus comprising the reactor having the configuration above is provided. Heat due to the steam supplied to the reactor is uniformly supplied to the waste in the reactor within a short time, and thereby increasing processing efficiency.
System and method for thermophilic anaerobic digester process
An anaerobic digestion system is provided that includes a blend tank operable to control and perform pre-treatment of feedstock. An anaerobic digester is operable to digest the feedstock provided from the blend tank in a totally enclosed oxygen-free environment within a specific temperature range. A bio-mass tank processes liquid digestate from the anaerobic digester. One or more baffles are positioned in the digester, with the one or more baffles providing for plug flow through at least a portion of the digester to create baffled zones that are at least partially operable independently of adjacent baffled zones. A bio-mass tank processes liquid digestate from the anaerobic digester. An energy source is coupled to the anaerobic digester.
WASTE MATERIAL PROCESS AND PRODUCT
A method of producing a final product from a wastewater dissolved air flotation (DAF) sludge which includes the following dewatering step: 5dewatering of the sludge, an aged sludge or a pre-processed sludge to produce a sludge filter cake and a filtrate; such that the pre-processed is sludge, or aged sludge, that has undergone additional processing steps prior to dewatering and aged sludge is sludge that has been stored for a period of time, wherein the dewatering step is a mechanical dewatering step 10 carried out at a maximum of 30 C. which results in a sludge filter cake that does not flow under its own mass.
