Substance Separator System driven by a Submersible Actuator
A submersible substance separator system having an outer chamber, a top cover plate, an upper cup, a disc stack separator; a middle cup, a submersible actuator, a lower cup, and an interior chamber within the outer chamber; in which one section of the disc stack separator is configured to lead, in response to centrifugal forces, a first separated substance into the upper cup and subsequently into the outer chamber until it reaches a chamber outlet corresponding to the outer chamber; and wherein another section of the disc stack separator is configured to release, in response to centrifugal forces, a second separated substance into the interior chamber until it reaches a chamber outlet corresponding to the interior chamber.
MODEL-FREE CONTROLLER AND METHOD FOR SOLAR-BASED DISTILLATION SYSTEM
A method for controlling a membrane distillation system includes determining whether there is a day time or a night time at a location of a solar collector system associated with the membrane distillation system; applying a first control mode during the day time to a flow velocity of a feed used by the membrane distillation system; and applying a second control mode, different from the first control scheme, during the night time, to the feed. The first control scheme is a model-free mode.
PORTABLE WATER PURIFYING AND DISPENSING UNIT
A hand-holdable portable water purifying and dispensing unit is described comprising at least a housing, a purified water inlet, a further-purified water dispense outlet, a dispense operator, a reservoir, one or more water further-purification devices, and an internal water recirculation pump and pathway, said pathway including the reservoir and the one or more water further-purification devices. Optionally, the reservoir has a volume in the range 100 ml to 2000 ml, preferably in the range 200 ml and 1000 ml.
SONICATION FOR SEPARATION OF MATERIALS IN FLUIDS
A system can include a multi-material fluid having a mixture of a first material and a second material. The system can also include a first vessel into which the multi-material fluid is disposed. The system can further include a first sonication device disposed, at least in part, in the multi-material fluid in the first vessel. The first sonication device, when operating, can emit ultrasound waves into the multi-material fluid. The ultrasound waves separate the first material and the second material from each other in the first vessel.
INTELLIGENT SOLAR POWERED POOL SKIMMING ROBOT
Systems and methods can support an autonomous pool skimming system. The pool skimming system may have a body with two or more hulls. Two or more paddlewheels may be coupled to the body. An independent motor may drive each paddlewheel. The motors may be independently controllable to support steering. The pool skimming system may have one or more processing units, two or more distance sensors, one or more solar cells, and a power supply operable to power the processing units and the motors from energy supplied by the solar cells. One or more processing modules may configure the processing units to plan and execute a traversal path across the surface of a body of water, such as a swimming pool, to collect debris into a removable basket. A portion of the traversal path may be established according to signals from distance sensors.
METHOD AND SOLAR-BASED SYSTEM FOR SIMULTANEOUS ELECTRICITY AND FRESH WATER GENERATION
An integrated solar PV panel-membrane distillation system includes a solar photovoltaic panel having a front face for receiving solar energy and a back face, opposite to the front face and a membrane distillation device attached directly to the back face of the solar photovoltaic panel. The solar photovoltaic panel is configured to simultaneously generate electrical energy and transfer heat to the back membrane distillation device for generating fresh water from contaminated water.
ELECTRODE APPARATUS FOR CREATING A NON-UNIFORM ELECTRIC FIELD TO REMOVE POLARIZED MOLECULES IN A FLUID
An electrode apparatus and method remove a polarized molecule in a fluid. In another aspect, a non-uniform electric field is created between an anode and a cathode, the fluid flows within a gap between the cathode and the anode, and the polarized molecule is driven by an electrostatic force to and adsorbed on the anode without experiencing a chemical reaction.
SOLAR OCEAN THERMAL ENERGY SEAWATER DISTILLATION SYSTEM
Apparatus and methods for distilling fresh water from seawater or from impure water by evaporation and condensation, as a system which may be characterized as a direct-heating continuous-flow solar thermal still, with heat supplying an evaporator primarily by solar energy from incident or reflecting sunlight, cooling supplying a condenser primarily by cold seawater piping from deep below the sea surface or from another cold-water source, with evaporator operating in a range of pressures from atmospheric at sea level to a pressure reduced below atmospheric pressure at sea level. The system maximizes the thermal gradient from the hot side of the evaporator to the cold side of the condenser, minimizing the energy flows and mass flows required for a given unit of fresh water output.
On-site generation of energy in a multi-unit building
A system includes an anaerobic digestion tank, a gas storage tank, a power generator, a power distribution system, and an electronic control system. The anaerobic digestion tank receives biological waste from a sewer line of a multi-unit building, and allows the received biological waste to be digested to produce a combustible gas. The gas storage tank stores the combustible gas. The power generator combusts the combustible gas to produce at least one of electrical power or heat. The power distribution system receives the electrical power from the power generator, stores at least some of the electrical power, and distributes at least some of the stored electrical power to one or more electrical devices. The electronic control system controls an operation of the system.
