A method and system for the remediation of the water of an aquatic facility using an integrated process control system to control a mixed halogen-based treatment including chlorine dioxide and a free halogen. The integrated process control system provides versatile control the chlorine dioxide concentration using accelerated side-stream generation of chlorine dioxide. The remediation can occur continuously, and/or intermittently using a daily remediation cycle or a rapid recovery shock.

BIOELECTROCHEMICAL BIOREACTOR

The present invention relates to a method for converting one or more influent streams comprising organic compounds present in an aqueous liquid stream such as wastewater and optionally inorganic carbon compounds into an effluent stream comprising short chain organic molecules in a bioreactor comprising electrodes, said method comprising: • the electrochemical oxidation of said organic compounds, thereby forming inorganic carbon compounds; and; • the electrochemical of said inorganic compound such as ammonium, ammonia and sulfides present in an aqueous liquid stream entering the bioreactor. • the bio-electrochemical reduction of said inorganic carbon compounds, thereby forming short chained organic molecules (such as methane); characterized in that said bioreactor is an anaerobic bioreactor comprising a biofilm growing on the cathodes and optionally the anodes as well as microorganism in suspension.

Livestock management

Livestock may be managed by a variety of systems, processes, and techniques. In particular implementations, the properties of water may be monitored by automated techniques and treated water may be provided to animals. In certain implementations, sick, or potentially sick, livestock may be provided with treated water to improve their health. The automated techniques may include monitoring the movements and/or water consumption of the livestock and predicting which ones may be sick based on their movements and/or water consumption. In some implementations, a water trough may contain multiple segments. The water properties in the segments may be maintained at different states.

Charge neutral biocide dosing control for membrane biofouling control applications

Biocide can be controllably added to a feed stream for a membrane. The membrane can separate the feed stream into a purified permeate stream and a concentrate stream containing contaminants from the feed stream. In some examples, a charge neutral biocide is introduced into the feed stream at a first addition rate. The concentration of the charge neutral biocide in the permeate stream is measured to provide a measured concentration of the charge neutral biocide in the permeate stream. The addition rate of the charge neutral biocide can be adjusted based on the measured concentration of the charge neutral biocide in the permeate stream to introduce charge neutral biocide into the feed stream at a second addition rate different than the first addition rate.

Aerobic granular sludge in continuous flow reactors

Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) is an energy efficient and compact biological wastewater treatment process. There is only one commercially available AGS technology which utilizes sequencing batch reactors (SBR). Many existing wastewater treatment facilities consist of long, continuous flow reactors that would not be readily suitable for retrofit to SBR. Therefore, a continuous flow process is preferred for municipalities that cannot economically invest in the only commercially available SBR technology (i.e., Nere-da®). Lab- and pilot-scale experimentation has demonstrated that stable granulation can be achieved in a continuous flow configuration GT suitable for retrofit into existing infrastructure. An anoxic/anaerobic/aerobic configuration can be designed and stably operated for conversion of flocculent biomass to AGS Preliminary pilot-scale results on primary effluent from a municipal wastewater treatment facility indicated that granules of 0.2-0.5 mm, SVI<75 mL/g, and SV.sub.30 min/SVI.sub.5 min>70% can be formed within a month of steady operation.
