Method for increasing the magnesium ion concentration in feed water

The present invention relates to a method for increasing the magnesium ion concentration of feed water. The method comprises the steps of providing an inlet flow of feed water (Q.sub.IN), increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide in said inlet flow Q.sub.IN to obtain a flow of carbon dioxide-containing feed water (Q.sub.CO2), and passing said flow Q.sub.CO2 through a solid bed comprising a magnesium ion source to obtain an outlet flow of treated water (Q.sub.OUT) having an increased concentration of magnesium ions. The invention further relates to a water treatment system for increasing the magnesium ion concentration of feed water and a corresponding flow reactor.

In general, a method for treating biosolids may include measuring one or more of pH, alkalinity, magnesium concentration, ortho-phosphorus concentration, total phosphorus content, ammonia content, total nitrogen content, total solids content, total volatile solids, polymer consumption, and metal salt consumption associated with a treatment process for wastewater solids. A metal salt dosage for amending the wastewater solids may be determined based upon, at least in part, an initial ortho-phosphorus concentration and a reduction capacity of the metal salt. A magnesium compound dosage may be determined for one or more of increasing, decreasing, and maintaining a pH of the wastewater solids. The magnesium compound dosage may be based upon, at least in part, a calculated anticipated change in pH of the wastewater solids resulting from an addition of the metal salts. The method may also include amending the treatment process with the determined metal salt dosage and the determined magnesium compound dosage.

Automated Manifold For Removing Digestate From A Lagoon Digester
20220289605 · 2022-09-15 ·

An extraction manifold for extracting digestate from a covered lagoon digester includes a digester vessel being shaped generally as a rectangular prism lacking an upward facing face and having a floor sloping generally downward from an intake face to an extraction face of the digester vessel. The intake face and extraction face are oriented vertically, situated in opposed relation on a longer horizontal axis. Each effluent pipe terminates in an extraction nozzle on one end and an independently addressable actuatable valve on the opposite end. Each actuatable valve communicates with a manifold plenum such that actuation of the valve draws digestate from the floor in a region of the floor adjacent to the extraction face and in proximity to the extraction nozzle. A valve controller actuates valves to remove digestate from the region of the floor adjacent to the extraction face. The valve controller includes sensors to monitor biogas production.

Process for treating frac flowback and produced water including naturally occurring radioactive material

A process for treating frac flowback that contains barium, naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) and hardness for minimizing the amount of sludge produced that contains hazardous levels of NORM by employing a dual stage precipitation process. In the first stage a sulfate source is mixed with the frac flowback and barium sulfate and NORM is precipitated, the frac flowback is subjected to a solids-liquid separation process to produce a first effluent and a first sludge. In the second stage hardness is precipitated from the first effluent by addition of an alkali reagent, said first effluent is also subjected to solids-liquid separation producing a second effluent and a second sludge. The first sludge is recycled and mixed with the frac flowback and the sulfate source in a sufficient amount to maintain the NORM concentration in the second sludge at or below a threshold level.
