DESALINATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DESALINATION OF WATER

A system and a method for desalination of water is provided. The desalination system includes an ultrasonic chamber to store saline water, an ultrasonic transducer disposed within the ultrasonic chamber, and a collection chamber coupled to the ultrasonic chamber. The ultrasonic transducer generates an aerosol including water particles from the saline water. A vertical distance between a lower region and an upper region of the ultrasonic chamber is above a pre-determined threshold value so that an average size of the water particles of the aerosol is reduced by gravity to 5 m or less. A fan is provided to transfer the aerosol from the upper region of the ultrasonic chamber to the collection chamber. The collection chamber is configured such that the water particles in the aerosol condense to form liquid water in the collection chamber, which has a lower salt concentration than the saline water.

Methods of removing contaminants from a solution, and related systems

A method of removing contaminants from a solution comprises passing a solution including one or more contaminants through a first cell comprising a first anode chamber and a first cathode chamber, passing a slurry comprising a flowing electrode material through the first anode chamber and the first cathode chamber while applying an electric potential between the first anode chamber and the first cathode chamber to transport anions from the solution to the first anode chamber and to transport cations from the solution to the first cathode chamber, the flowing electrode material comprising a MXene material, wherein M is a metal and X is one or both of carbon and nitrogen, and passing the slurry through a second cell to desorb the anions and cations from the flowing electrode material. Related systems for removing contaminants from a solution, and related methods are disclosed.

WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM VALVE BODY

A valve body for a water softener system includes a controller, a seal assembly, and a reciprocating piston driven by a drive mechanism. The controller sends signals to the drive mechanism which moves the piston into various positions. The piston cooperates with the seal assembly to direct the flow of liquid through various flow paths, allowing for water softening and regeneration. During regeneration, a regenerant mixture is directed to flow through a resin bed. The valve body is configurable to perform the regeneration process either through a down-flow configuration, wherein a removable filter is coupled to the valve body in a first orientation and a removable brine injector is installed in a first orifice in the valve body or through an up-flow configuration wherein the removable filter is in a second orientation and the removable brine injector is installed in a second orifice.
