FLUID DISPLACEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20220243695 · 2022-08-04 ·

A system for storing and generating power is disclosed. The system comprises a first storage reservoir configured to store a first fluid, a second storage reservoir located at a lower elevation than the first storage reservoir and configured to store a second fluid wherein said second fluid has a higher density than the first fluid, and a pump. The pump and the first and the second reservoir are operatively connected such that power is stored by displacing the second fluid in the second storage reservoir by pumping the first fluid from the first storage reservoir to the second storage reservoir and such that power is generated by allowing the pumped first fluid in the second storage reservoir to exit the second reservoir. The first fluid is generally a liquid. In some embodiments, a power recovery device may be employed. In some embodiments, the hydraulic pressure of the low density fluid may be employed to pressurized desalination feed and facilitate desalination.

Use of multiple charged cationic compounds derived from polyamines and compositions thereof for corrosion inhibition in a water system

Disclosed here are the methods of using one or more multiple charged cationic compounds in a corrosion control composition to reduce corrosion of metal surfaces in a water system. The multiple charged cationic compounds are derived from polyamines through a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide or two reactions: an aza-Michael addition with an activated olefin having a cation group and a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide. The disclosed methods or compositions are found to be effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used corrosion inhibitors for water systems.

SCALABLE FLOATING MICRO-AERATION UNIT, DEVICES AND METHODS

Disclosed are floating micro-aeration unit (FMU) devices, systems and methods for biological sulfide removal from water/wastewater bodies and streams. In some aspects, a system includes a manifold structure including one or more opening to flow air out of an interior of the manifold structure; one or more support structures connected to the manifold structure, in which the one or more support structures are floatable on a surface of a fluid that includes water or a wastewater; and an air source that flows air to the manifold structure, such that the manifold structure supplies the air containing a predetermined amount of oxygen (e.g., less than 0.1 mg/L of oxygen) to oxidize sulfide of the fluid.

Methods and systems for optimizing corrosion and scale inhibitor injection rates in process plants

Control strategy and algorithms to be utilized in a programmable logic control for automating injection rates of corrosion inhibitor and scaling inhibitor in a process plant. The logic control system can be programmed on a Distributed Control System (DCS) or Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) of the plant. The automating system is developed with the objective of optimizing corrosion inhibitor and scale inhibitor usage, thereby reducing operating cost, improving the reliability and integrity of process plant facilities, and preventing undesirable incident of loss of containment.

Fluid Sterilization Device

A method and system for testing a liquid sample for an organic compound is disclosed, the method including the steps of collecting the liquid sample from a liquid source; transmitting light having a wavelength of between about 190 nanometers and about 310 nanometers into the liquid sample; measuring absorption/transmission of the light by the organic compound in the liquid sample; and determining a concentration of the organic compound within the liquid sample based on the absorption/transmission of the light by the organic compound. The system can include a spectrophotometer for measuring the absorption of UV light by the organic compound, an ion exchange column for removing ion contaminants from the liquid sample, and a vacuum degasser unit for removing gases and other impurities from the liquid sample.

Water Purification Process with Water Pretreatment
20230391651 · 2023-12-07 · ·

A water purification process for treating water containing at least some organic contaminants, and including the steps of pre-treating the water for capturing organic contaminants from solution in a water stream, by passing the water into a spin up bowl to speed up the water stream, forcing the high speed stream through an annular flow passage located centrally of the spin up bowl passing the high velocity stream between a magnetic member and a magnetic ring, thereafter passing the water stream into an energy recovery bowl, directing the flow from the flow passage onto a zinc anode member; and thereafter passing the water stream along a grounded pipe, thereby causing the development of fine particles of calcium carbonates, and capturing the organic contaminants

WATER QUALITY DIAGNOSIS METHOD

A water quality diagnosis method, includes: a step of obtaining a measurement value of electrical conductivity of a sample water derived from a steam or a circulating water obtained from a steam turbine plant using ammonia as a water conditioner and a measurement value of pH of the sample water; and a determination step of determining presence or absence of abnormality of water quality of the steam turbine plant by using at least a first determination condition of whether the measurement value of the electrical conductivity and the measurement value of the pH are included in a first determination region which is set within a first correlation map of the electrical conductivity and the pH taking into account a carbonic acid concentration range where carbonic acid is dissolvable in the sample water.
