20190210902 · 2019-07-11 ·

A renewable energy microgeneration apparatus is disclosed that includes a mixing tank that mixes waste with a liquid, a buffer tank that receives and pre-warms the mixed waste, a pasteurization tank that pasteurizes on the pre-warmed mixed waste, a digestion tank that performs anaerobic digestion on the pasteurized waste, a de-watering device that separates liquid digestate and removes salt from the liquid, sensors that measure salinity and biogas quality, and a controller. The controller causes the transfer of digestate from the digestion tank to the pasteurization tank to the dewatering device, causes the de-watering device to separate the liquid and remove the salt from the liquid, monitors the salinity of the liquid and the quality of biogas using the sensors, and causes the mixing of the liquid with the waste and adjusts the feed rate of the waste to reduce the salinity of the waste and increase methane production.

Surface Water Mitigation Structure

A method for distilling water includes moving raw water into an evaporator. Water is pumped into a liquid-driven condensing ejector. Water vapor is discharged from a vapor outlet of the evaporator into a gas inlet of the ejector. Fluid from an outlet of the ejector is conducted into a heat exchanger. Heat from fluid conducted from the ejector is transferred in the heat exchanger to the raw water entering the evaporator.

Energy and water recovery from pressure oxidation flash vessel steam

The invention relates to a method for recovering energy and water from pressure oxidation flash steam where first flash steam directly obtained from a flash vessel is contacted with a first recirculating condensate having a first low condensate temperature to condense at least part of the water vapor in the first dirty flash steam and simultaneously to heat the first recirculating condensate to obtain a first recirculating condensate having a first high condensate temperature and a first vent steam. The invention further relates to a pressure oxidation arrangement adapted for use in the method.

A system and method for effectively desalinating a source of water is provided. The source of water is desalinated by a desalination train comprising at least a heat exchanger, a plurality of flashing stages comprising hydrophobic membranes under reduced pressure, and at least a compression device. The source of water is passed through the heat exchanger prior to passing through the flashing stages to bring it to a vaporizing temperature by maintaining the flashing stages at reduced pressure so that at least a portion of water flashes into vapor. The vapor from the flashing stages is withdrawn, and at least a portion of the withdrawn vapor is compressed by the compression device. The compressed vapor is then condensed in the heat exchanger to produce a distillate stream, and heat the source of water before it enters the flashing stages.
