A control system suppresses biological growth, scale formation and/or corrosion in a recirculating evaporative cooling facility (1). The control system is configured to: monitor a value (C) from at least one sensor (19a-l). The value is indicative of an ion concentration in a cooling liquid of the recirculating evaporative cooling facility (1). The control system controls at least one flow regulation device (21, 23) for regulating the hydraulic operation of at least one de-ionising unit (13) of the recirculating evaporative cooling facility (1). The control system is configured to control at least one parameter of hydraulic operation of the at least one de-ionising unit (13) based on an adaptive target water saving as long as the monitored value (C) does not pass a pre-determined threshold.
MONITORING OF MEMBRANE FOULING
A method is disclosed for monitoring deposit formation in an aqueous process. The method includes providing a feed flow of aqueous liquid onto a receiving surface of a monitoring cell. At least part of the receiving surface is illuminated with a light source. Visual data is collected at a multitude of positions across the receiving surface, and the collected visual data is analysed. A quantitative scaling and/or fouling indication is computed for the receiving surface. The monitoring cell has an inlet for the aqueous feed flow and an outlet for a reject flow from the monitoring cell. The receiving surface includes a selective barrier membrane. The feed flow is directed to the receiving surface at an elevated pressure to produce a permeate part that passes through the selective barrier membrane, and a concentrate part that forms the reject flow.

The cold water supply line includes at least one of an anti-scale device, and a UV sanitation lamp. A mixing station supplies a temperature regulated heated water to one or multiple temperature zones. A mixing station supplies heated water to at least a first temperature zone at a first hot water temperature. The water heater, the anti-scale device, the UV sanitation lamp and the mixing station are contained in a single enclosure having at least one sliding transparent wall through which components can be viewed. A plurality of pipe connections passing through a rear panel of said single enclosure are also described.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF EVAPORATIVE COOLING WATER MANAGEMENT
A system and method of managing water in an evaporative cooling system includes one or a combination of three components. A first component is to purify incoming water to the target quality. A second component is to purify condenser loop water to the target quality. The choice of the technology may depend on the site specific environmental conditions determining the quality of the recirculated condenser water and may include (but not limited to) filtration allowing for meeting target quality parameters, such as ultrafiltration, microfiltration, etc. A third component is to provide protection for the condenser loop hardware, preventing or reducing rate of corrosion, fouling, and scaling by adding chemicals to water in the system. The choice of the chemistry will depend on the site specific environmental and other system operating conditions
Cooling Water Treatment Composition for Decreasing Energy Use
Water treatment compositions useful to decrease surface tension of cooling tower waters are provided as are treated cooling tower waters. The compositions increase the transfer of heat from metal surfaces in contact with the treated cooling water. The increased heat transfer can decrease energy use, for example, in water-cooled HVAC and refrigeration compressors, and can enable increased production rates in many industrial processes, including, for example, plastics molding, metal billet production, petroleum refining, power plants, and condensers for steam turbines. Also provided are cooling tower water compositions formulated to control corrosion, scale, and deposition in a cooling tower and in treated cooling tower water.
