Methods for strengthening edges of a laminated glass article comprising a glass core layer positioned between a first glass clad layer and a second glass clad layer are disclosed. The methods may comprise polishing the cut edges of the laminated glass article with a slurry of polishing media applied to the edges of the laminated glass article with brushes. An edge strength of the laminated glass article is greater than or equal to about 400 MPa after polishing.

Glass articles made from laminated glass tubing and systems and methods for converting laminated glass tubing into the glass articles
Methods for producing glass articles from laminated glass tubing include introducing the glass tubing to a converter. The glass tubing includes a core layer under tensile stress, an outer clad layer under, and an inner clad layer. The methods include forming a feature the glass article at a working end of the laminated glass tubing and separating a glass article from the working end of the laminated glass tubing, which may expose the core layer under tensile stress at the working end of the glass tubing. The method further comprises remediating the exposed portion of the core layer by completely enclosing the core layer in a clad layer. Systems for re-cladding the exposed portion of the core layer as well as glass articles made using the systems and methods are also disclosed.
Method for producing multilayered silica glass body
One aspect is a method for producing a multilayered silica glass body. The method involves producing a multilayered silica glass body in which a transparent silica glass layer is provided on the surface of a siliceous substrate made of a siliceous material. The method includes preparing the siliceous substrate, preparing a silica slurry in which silica particles are dispersed in a liquid, applying the silica slurry to the surface of the siliceous substrate, leveling the silica slurry applied to the surface of the siliceous substrate by applying vibration to the siliceous substrate, drying the leveled silica slurry, and vitrifying the dried silica slurry by heating to form a transparent silica glass layer. As a result, a transparent silica glass layer of uniform thickness is obtained at excellent yield, and a method for producing a multilayered silica glass body easily in a short time is provided.
THIN GLASS SHEET AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORMING THE SAME
A method includes heating a glass preform having a plurality of glass layers and drawing the glass preform in a distal direction to form a drawn glass sheet extending distally from the glass preform and having the plurality of glass layers. The drawn glass sheet is thinner than the glass preform. The drawn glass sheet can be rolled onto a collection spool. At least a portion of a glass layer can be removed from the drawn glass sheet. An exemplary glass sheet includes a first glass layer, a second glass layer adjacent to the first glass layer, and a thickness of at most about 0.1 mm. An exemplary ion exchanged glass sheet includes a thickness of at most about 0.1 mm and a surface layer that is under a compressive stress and extends into an interior of the glass sheet to a depth of layer.

LAMINATED AND ION-EXCHANGED STRENGTHENED GLASS LAMINATES
A method of making a glass sheet comprises laminating a high CTE core glass to a low CTE clad glass at high temperatures and allowing the laminate to cool creating compressive stress in the clad glass, and then ion exchanging the laminate to increase the compressive stress in the outer near surface regions of the clad glass. The core glass may include ions that exchange with ion in the clad glass to increase the compressive stress in inner surface regions of the clad glass adjacent to the clad glass/core glass interfaces. The glass laminate may be formed and laminated using a fusion forming and laminating process and fusion formable and ion exchangeable glass compositions.
LAMINATED AND ION-EXCHANGED STRENGTHENED GLASS LAMINATES
A method of making a glass sheet comprises laminating a high CTE core glass to a low CTE clad glass at high temperatures and allowing the laminate to cool creating compressive stress in the clad glass, and then ion exchanging the laminate to increase the compressive stress in the outer near surface regions of the clad glass. The core glass may include ions that exchange with ion in the clad glass to increase the compressive stress in inner surface regions of the clad glass adjacent to the clad glass/core glass interfaces. An additive manufacturing process includes forming an object material stack using sheet materials without use of binder material between the sheet materials and forming features of the cross-sectional layers of a 3D object in the corresponding sheet materials. Another process involves forming features of the cross-sectional layers of a 3D object in soot layers of a laminated soot sheet. A manufactured article includes three or more glass layers laminated together without any binder material between the glass layers. At least one of the glass layers is composed of silica or doped silica, and at least one feature is formed in at least one of the glass layers.
