Cementitious reagents, methods of manufacturing and uses thereof
Described are cementitious reagent materials produced from globally abundant inorganic feedstocks. Also described are methods for the manufacture of such cementitious reagent materials and forming the reagent materials as microspheroidal glassy particles. Also described are apparatuses, systems and methods for the thermochemical production of glassy cementitious reagents with spheroidal morphology. The apparatuses, systems and methods make use of an in-flight melting/quenching technology such that solid particles are flown in suspension, melted in suspension, and then quenched in suspension. The cementitious reagents can be used in concrete to substantially reduce the CO.sub.2 emission associated with cement production.

Bioactive glass scaffolds, and method of making
A glass, glass-ceramic, or ceramic bead is described, with an internal porous scaffold microstructure that is surrounded by an amorphous shield. The shield serves to protect the internal porous microstructure of the shield while increasing the overall strength of the porous microstructure and improve the flowability of the beads either by themselves or in devices such as biologically degradable putty that would be used in bone or soft tissue augmentation or regeneration. The open porosity present inside the bead will allow for enhanced degradability in-vivo as compared to solid particles or spheres and also promote the growth of tissues including but not limited to all types of bone, soft tissue, blood vessels, and nerves.

A high-strength geopolymer hollow microsphere, a preparation method thereof and a phase change energy storage microsphere are provided, including: dissolving sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate and spheroidizing aid in water to form a solution A, and adding active powder to the solution A, stirring and uniformly mixing to form a slurry B, adding the slurry B to an oil phase, stirring and dispersing into balls, filtering to obtain geopolymer microspheres I, washing the geopolymer microspheres I, and then carrying out a high-temperature calcination to obtain the high-strength geopolymer hollow microspheres II; using the high-strength geopolymer hollow microsphere as a carrier, absorbing a phase change material into the carrier, and mixing a microsphere carrying the phase change material with an epoxy resin, adding a powder dispersant and stirring to disperse the microsphere, after the epoxy resin is solidified, screening the superfluous powder dispersant to obtain the phase energy storage microsphere.
POROUS GLASS BASE MATERIAL MANUFACTURING APPARATUS, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING POROUS GLASS BASE MATERIAL, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS BASE MATERIAL FOR OPTICAL FIBER
The porous glass base material manufacturing apparatus releases gas of organic siloxane raw materials into the flame of a group of burners that moves relative to a starting base material along the longitudinal direction of the starting base material rotating around a rotation axis along the longitudinal direction to form soot of porous glass particles on the surface of the starting base material. The porous glass base material manufacturing apparatus is equipped with a vaporizer that vaporizes liquid raw materials containing organic siloxane in a liquid state supplied from a raw material tank to make a raw material mixed gas mixed with raw material gas and carrier gas and a raw material gas pipe that supplies the raw material mixed gas to the burner. The raw material gas pipe is insulated and kept warm by double insulation.

An optical glass includes La.sup.3+, Zn.sup.2+, Nb.sup.5+, and Ti.sup.4+ as a cation configuring glass. La.sup.3+, Zn.sup.2+, Nb.sup.5+, and Ti.sup.4+ which satisfy 10 cat %≤La.sup.3+≤20 cat %, 10 cat %≤Zn.sup.2+≤60 cat %, 20 cat %≤Nb.sup.5+≤60 cat %, and 0 cat %≤Ti.sup.4+≤40 cat % expressed by cation %.
Tumbled, polished, vibrated broken tempered glass pieces
An invention is provided for creating smoothed, heat-treated glass fragments. The invention includes placing a plurality of heat-treated glass fragments into a tumbling or vibrating apparatus. Each heat-treated glass fragment is formed from glass that has been heated to a temperature of at least 1000° Fahrenheit and rapidly cooled to a temperature below 800° Fahrenheit. The plurality of glass fragments is then tumbled or vibrated for a predetermined period of time such that surfaces of the heat-treated glass fragments are smoother than prior to tumbling. The glass fragments are thereafter removed from the tumbling apparatus, resulting in smoothed, heat-treated glass fragments that have a slightly rounded, bead like-shape and are suitable for direct handling without hand protection.
Method of manufacturing lithium ion conductive glass ceramic
A method of manufacturing a lithium ion conductive glass ceramic, includes a step of forming granules using a material including an SiO.sub.2 source, a ZrO.sub.2 source, a P.sub.2O.sub.5 source and an Na.sub.2O source; a step of obtaining a powder including a glass ceramic by passing the granules under a heated gas phase atmosphere to melt the granules and solidifying the melted granules; a step of obtaining a target object including a glass ceramic by performing a heat treatment on the powder to precipitate crystals; and a step of obtaining a lithium ion conductive glass ceramic by performing an ion-exchange process on the target object in molten salt including lithium ions.
