A crown portion has elastic sections and non-stretchable sections, open sections devoid of both elastic sections and non-stretchable sections for ventilation purposes, and a top and a bottom. The open sections include plural open sections closer to the top than to the bottom and plural open sections closer to the bottom than to the top. A circumferential portion has elastic sections and non-stretchable sections, a lower edge, a front, a back, a left side, and a right side. The circumferential portion adjacent to the lower edge is coupled to the bottom of the crown portion.

A garment, comprising: a hood wearable on a head of an intended user; and a visor removably securable to the hood so as to be selectively positionable in front of at least part of a face of the intended user.

A disposable protective garment for positioning over a wearer's head is provided for use in airplanes, busses, trains, other mass transit and other single-use applications. The disposable protective garment includes a hood formed of tubular blown film that has an at least partly closed top that rests on a wearer's head and an open bottom that rests on a wearer's shoulders. A mask can be integrated into the hood by forming a plurality of apertures in the hood and placing a polymer fabric that acts as a filter over the plurality of apertures. The hood may alternatively be combined with a crown or air filter material positioned over its top; a tubular filter equipped with an electric fan that draws air from above, filters it and directs the clean air downward across the wearer's face; and/or headgear. A barrier film suitable for use in the protective garment as well as other barrier applications is also provided.

A personal protective apparatus, having a wearable support member and a mesh shield securable thereto. The mesh shield may include first and second air-permeable conductive layers secured to the wearable support member and a first air-permeable non-conductive layer received between the first and second air-permeable conductive layers to separate them, and a portable power supply coupled to the mesh shield with a negative high voltage lead to the first air-permeable conductive layer and a positive high voltage lead to the second air-permeable conductive layer. The mesh shield may be a flexible mesh shield, and include at least one air-permeable layer secured at a first layer upper end to the wearable support member to hang from the wearable support member, the at least one air-permeable layer including at least one of an anti-virus material and an anti-microbial material. A fibrous filter layer may overlay an outer surface of the mesh shield.

A protective lens is provided having a first layer, a second layer and a third layer. The first, second and third layers each comprises a first surface and a second surface. The first layer comprises a substantially non-reactive material. The first surface of the second layer is positioned adjacent to the second surface of the first layer. A protective shield for use with headgear includes a unitary panel having a protective portion including opposing first and surfaces The unitary panel additionally includes at least one lateral tab connectable to the headgear. The protective portion is sized to extend over the face of a user when the at least one lateral tab is connected to the headgear and the headgear is worn on the user's head. The unitary panel is selectively connectable to the headgear in at least one of a first configuration and a second configuration. In the first configuration, the at least one lateral tab is connected to the headgear such that the first surface assumes a convex configuration and faces away from the user. In the second configuration, the at least one lateral tab is connected to the headgear such that the first surface assumes a concave configuration and faces toward from the user.

An apparatus and method for providing cooled clean filtered air to the wearer of this device while allowing them to remain inconspicuous and to do so using inexpensive easily obtainable filtration supplies.
