A protective clothing device having an article of clothing having an inner layer and/or an outer layer is disclosed. The protective clothing device may have thin force absorbing members coupled to the inner layer or outer layer of the article of clothing. The force absorbing members can have overlapping or interlaced portions for enhanced protection even when the protective clothing device expands. In one embodiment, the protective clothing device may be a protective hat. In another embodiment, the protective clothing device may be a headband.

A headwear assembly adapted to be used with a type of headwear commonly referred to as a durag (also referred to as a wave cap) is provided. The headwear assembly provides a padded layer between the durag's tie-ends and the wearer's forehead when worn with a strap that extends around the wearer's head to hold the headwear in place. A sleeve with a sleeve channel is configured with the padded layer to receive the durag's tie-ends and to hold them in secure.

A headwear assembly adapted to be used with a type of headwear commonly referred to as a durag (also referred to as a wave cap) is provided. A headwrap provides fastening mechanisms for covering, protecting, and retaining the hair of a wearer. A fabric panel forming the headwrap may be defined by a head covering, a crown circumscribing the head covering, and a tail extending rearwardly from the crown and having an internal volume able to contain and cover the hair of the wearer. Left and right straps affixed to a base of the tail enable a wearer to tension the straps about the crown to tighten the head covering over the head, tying the straps off at the front of the crown. A loop affixed to a terminus of the tail enables a user to draw the tail forward and hang the loop off a button affixed about the crown on the forehead.

A turban has an outer shell forming an enclosed interior space with an interior perimeter. At least one sleeve, which is open at its ends, is formed within the interior space along the interior perimeter. A malleable wire is threaded through the open ends of the at least one sleeve such that the wire extends around the interior perimeter of the outer shell, the wire having two ends bound together. The turban may be wrapped around the head of a user, for example as a fashion accessory, while being held in place by the wire.
