The lower visor slidably adjusts relative to the shell to enable the plurality of tab assemblies of the lower visor to traverse the pairs of rails in the plurality of elongated slots of the upper visor, thereby extending the lower visor beyond the upper visor in an extended position or retracting the lower visor to align with the upper visor in a retracted position.

A sun hat having a bendable and shapeable brim is described. The bendable brim is characterized by a wire cable assembly secured in the brim of the hat along its perimeter. The wire cable assembly can comprise a loop of multi-strand metal cable enclosed in a slightly oversized flexible plastic sheath that is hermetically sealed at joining ends. The cable can be comprised of an annealed metal that permits it to be bent thousands of times without breaking.

A ballistic garment includes a fabric cap and a plurality of flexible ballistic panels. Each of the plurality of flexible ballistic panels has a bottom edge and an acutely pointed head that is spaced from the bottom head. Headwear for partially covering a hat is described wherein the hat has a crown and a headband region. The headwear comprises a piece of material of an irregular shape which has an aperture located closer to a side portion of the headwear material than other sides of the material. The aperture size is adjustable so as to permit the headwear material to be fixable to the hat about the headband region of the hat and to leave the crown of the hat uncovered by the material. The specification also discloses a hood for clothing having an adjustable sized aperture so as to permit the hood material to be fixable to the hat about the headband region of the hat and to leave the crown of the hat uncovered by the material while the hood is still part of the clothing such as a sweat shirt.

A piece of apparel comprises a hooded garment, a cap having a front, and a securing system associated with the hood of the hooded garment. The securing system comprises a band that contacts the front of the cap and secures the cap to a wearer's head when the hood is up and that secures the cap within the hood with the hood is down. The band extends from one side of the interior of the hood, across the front of the cap and to the other side of the interior of the hood. The band can comprise an elastic portion so that the band compresses the front of the cap when in use.
