A helmet can include an outer shell including a faceport, a first segment including a longitudinal ridge extending from a front of the helmet to a rear of the helmet, a gap disposed along the edge of the first segment, and a second segment offset from the first segment by the gap. A hinged zone can be formed by an elastomeric material disposed within the gap and coupled to the first segment and the second segment of the outer shell. The hinged zone can elastically flex in a radial direction towards a center of the helmet. An energy absorbing liner can be coupled to an inner surface of the outer shell, and an open space can be formed between an inner surface of the hinged zone and an outer surface of the energy absorbing liner.

An interface is provided for the comfortable and secure positioning of a hat on the head of an animal such as a dog. The device features a body having a bottom section adapted to engage the head of the animal and an exterior fastened or engageable with the interior of a hat. Recesses in the body align with openings in the hat to provide a pathway for the ears of the animal therethrough. The body provides the hat with a rigid structure to maintain its shape on the animal's head. A strap is engageable around the neck of the animal and to the body or hat on opposing sides, to hold the body engaged with the hat on the head of the animal in an as-used position.

Hat and hat brim length adjusting method

A hat and a hat brim length adjusting method are provided to solve the problem that the hat brim length of the existing sunscreen hats cannot be adjusted in real time. The present hat includes a hat body and a hat brim which is retractable in length; the hat further includes a power supply, an adjustment unit and a detection unit; wherein the detection unit is used for detecting relations between a position of the sun and a position of a wearer's face in real time; and the adjustment unit is used for adjusting a length of the hat brim according to the detection result. The hat brim length of the present hat is adjustable, so that the hat not only can block the sun for the wearer but also can provide a good sight angle for the wearer.

The deployable protective material includes an elastic outer edge to ensure a secure fit around the wearer's head, ears, and neck. The securely fitted material provides protection to the wearer's head, ears, and neck from uncomfortably cool, hot, and/or wet climatic conditions and from uncomfortable, unfavorable, or otherwise personally damaging surrounding conditions to which the wearer may be exposed. Additionally, the sewing method for attaching the selectively deployable material to the baseball cap provides a comfortable fit and feel to the wearer whether the material is concealed under the cap or deployed from the rear of the cap.
