HOLLOW GLASS MICROSPHERES COATED FROM REACTIVE GRAPHENE
Graphene coated hollow glass microspheres may be easily prepared by mixing Pristine Reactive Graphene Particles with hollow glass microspheres under conditions to associate the Pristine Reactive Graphene Particles on the external surface of the hollow glass microspheres by chemical coupling with a silane coupling agent to form graphene coated hollow glass microspheres. Graphene coated hollow glass microspheres prepared by the methods as described herein are also provided. In an embodiment, graphene coated hollow glass microspheres comprise a graphene coating formed from Pristine Reactive Graphene Particles associated on the external surface of the hollow glass microspheres by chemical coupling with a silane coupling agent.
METHOD AND PLANT FOR PRODUCING HOLLOW MICROSPHERES MADE OF GLASS
A process and a plant produce hollow microspheres made of glass. According to the process an aqueous suspension is prepared from starting materials containing glass powder and water glass, feedstock particles having a diameter between 5 ?m and 300 ?m, in particular between 5 ?m and 100 ?m, being produced from the suspension. The feedstock particles are mixed with a pulverulent release agent made of aluminum hydroxide in an intensive mixer. The mixture of feedstock particles and release agent is subsequently introduced into a firing chamber of a furnace. The feedstock particles expand in the firing chamber, at a firing temperature which exceeds the softening temperature of the glass powder, to form the hollow microspheres.
Glass composites for tissue augmentation, biomedical and cosmetic applications
Compositions and methods for glass composites suitable for tissue augmentation, biomedical, and cosmetic applications are provided. The glass microsphere component of the composites are biologically inert, non-reactive and act as a nearly permanent tissue filler. One embodiment provides a tissue augmentation composite containing an effective amount of solid glass microspheres, hollow glass microspheres, porous wall hollow glass microspheres, or combinations thereof with a suitable biocompatible matrix to serve as a bulking agent when injected into a patient. The compositions can be used for soft or hard tissue augmentation as well as delivery of cargos on demand.
Fluid permeable and vacuumed insulating microspheres and methods of producing the same
Microsphere comprising an outer shell enclosing a substantially hollow inner space, the outer shell comprising a fluid permeable porous structure, the fluid permeable porous structure comprising interconnected pores, the microsphere being capable of maintaining a vacuum in its substantially hollow inner space when its outer shell is sealed.
Multispectral Camouflage Material
A fabric includes a first flexible fabric layer, having fabric emissivity properties in a visible radiation range that are selected so as to mimic ambient emissivity properties of a deployment environment of the fabric, and at least one second flexible fabric layer, which is joined to the first flexible fabric layer, and which is configured to scatter long-wave radiation that is incident on the fabric. The first and second flexible fabric layers are perforated by a non-uniform pattern of perforations extending over at least a part of the fabric.
REFRACTORY MATERIAL WITH TAGGANT TO ENABLE IDENTIFICATION OF MATERIAL DURING RECLAIMING PROCESS
A refractory material for forming a refractory product includes a refractory component and a taggant having an amorphous or a crystalline solid dispersed within the refractory material. The taggant is configured to be distinguishable from the refractory component after heating of the refractory product between 300 degrees F. and 3500 degrees F. A method of reclaiming refractory material of a refractory lining constructed from different types of refractory products, the refractory lining having been subjected to temperatures in excess of 300 degrees F., includes demolishing the refractory lining to produce a mixture of refractory pieces of different types of refractory products. The mixture of refractory pieces is analyzed to detect the presence of one or more taggants, and the refractory pieces are sorted into groups based on the detected one or more taggants.
COMPOSITION FOR MANUFACTURING SHEET MOLDING COMPOUNDS
A composition is made that is suitable for the manufacturing of sheet molding compounds, and a method for preparing the composition is developed. A method for making an article using the composition is developed, and an article with the composition, at least one such article being a mobility device, is made. The viscosity of a liquid mixture comprising an unsaturated polyester and at least one hollow glass body is controlled with at least one silane, a hydrolysate, an oligomer, and/or a polymer thereof.
