Electric multi-catch rodent trap
An electric rodent trap includes bait attracting rodents to climb entry ramps reaching up to entries, and a high voltage grid in a housing bottom portion to euthanize the rodents. The entries may include interior ramps sloping down and into the trap and the ramps may include a low voltage grid to stun the rodents causing them to stumble into the trap while remaining alive. A manual switch is later activated to energize the high voltage grid in the housing bottom portion to euthanize the rodents, and the dead rodents are removed.

In some implementations, a trap to capture and kill a pest may include a circuit. The circuit may receive sensor data from a sensor and determine that a pest has entered the trap. The circuit may cause a shutter inside the trap to move from an approximately horizontal position to an approximately vertical position, thereby causing a portion of a door of a container located inside the trap to come in contact with adhesive on an outer surface of the container to prevent the pest from leaving the container. Substantially simultaneously with the shutter moving, the circuit may provide electricity to two conductive plates located on in a inner bottom surface of the container, thereby causing the electricity to pass through the pest. The circuit may send a wireless notification message, indicating that the pest was captured in the container, over a wireless network to a computing device.

The logic board may create an open circuit using two electrical contacts in touch with two conductive plates in a container located in the trap. The logic board may cause a shutter inside the trap to move from an approximately horizontal position to an approximately vertical position, thereby causing a portion of a door of the container to close by causing two latch strikes of the door to engage with the two jaws of the container. The circuit may send a wireless notification message, indicating that the pest was captured in the container, over a wireless network to a computing device.

A rodent trap comprising: a cage having an entrance configured to allow a rodent to enter the cage; a control circuit board; discharge plates on an inner surface of the cage and spaced apart from each other, wherein the control circuit board is configured to establish a voltage between the discharge plates; a first infrared sensor comprising a first infrared emitter and a first infrared receiver, wherein the rodent prevents an infrared light beam emitted by the first infrared emitter from reaching the first infrared receiver when the rodent steps on adjacent pair of the discharge plates; and a second infrared sensor comprising a second infrared emitter and a second infrared receiver placed apart from the first infrared sensor. The invention also relates a method of using a rodent trap having a first discharge plate and a second discharge plate.
