Coloured laminated glazing
A process for the manufacture of a colored laminated glazing including at least two glass sheets connected together by a thermoplastic interlayer, includes deposition, by the liquid route, on a first glass sheet, of a polymeric layer including a coloring agent and polymeric compounds, drying and optionally curing of the polymeric layer, assembling of the glass sheet, coated with the colored polymeric layer, with a colorless transparent thermoplastic interlayer and with the second glass sheet, so that the colored polymeric layer is in direct contact with the interlayer, degassing, during which the air trapped between the glass sheets and the thermoplastic interlayer is removed, and heat treatment under pressure and/or under vacuum of the laminated glass at a temperature of between 60 and 200° C., during which the coloring agent present in the polymeric layer migrates toward the thermoplastic interlayer and during which the laminated glazing is assembled.
Masking and fixturing of a glass-based article during a coating process and articles produced thereby
Methods for coating a glass-based article, for example a cover glass, with a coating layer that is not deposited on the perimeter edge of the glass-based article. The methods may include direct patterning of a sacrificial material over a first region on a top surface the glass-based article but not a second region on the top surface of the glass-based article. The first region includes at least a portion of a perimeter edge of the glass-based article that is to be protected from deposition of the coating layer. After direct patterning of a sacrificial material and deposition of a coating layer, the sacrificial material may be removed such that the coating layer is disposed on the second region on the top surface of the glass-based article and not the first region. These methods may be used to make a glass-based article with non-edge-to-edge coating layers.

Electronic device enclosure having a textured glass component
Textured cover assemblies for electronic devices are disclosed. The textured cover assemblies may provide a combination of optical and tactile properties to the electronic devices. In some cases, a textured cover assembly may be provided over decorative coating.
Fluorine-containing compound having unsaturated bond, and surface modifier using the same
To provide a novel fluorine-containing compound that does not include any long chain perfluoroalkyl unit having 8 or more carbon atoms, which is problematic in terms of the environment, and that is excellent in water repellency/oil repellency, and a surface modifier using the compound. [Solution] There are used a fluorine-containing compound represented by the following general formula (1), the following general formula (2) or the following general formula (5): Rf.sup.1—(CR.sup.1═CR.sup.2—X—Rf.sup.2).sub.n—Y—Z (1), Rf.sup.1—(X—CR.sup.1═CR.sup.2—Rf.sup.2).sub.n—Y—Z (2) or Rf.sup.3—(CF═CR.sup.3—CR.sup.4═CF—Rf.sup.4).sub.n—Y—Z (5); and a surface modifier using the compound.

METHOD OF PROVIDING A COLOUR COATING ON A DECORATIVE ELEMENT
A method of applying a coloured coating to a decorative element such as a gemstone. The method comprises: providing an ink mixture comprising an ink and an organic carrier, the carrier comprising a polymerisable organic material; arranging the ink mixture and the decorative element in a plasma; and allowing the ink mixture to polymerise on a surface of the decorative element to form a polymerised colour coating. The polymerisable organic material may comprise a polymerisable siloxane or a polymerisable oxysilane.
VEHICULAR EXTERIOR MEMBER AND FAR-INFRARED CAMERA EQUIPPED VEHICULAR EXTERIOR MEMBER
The present invention aims to provide a vehicular exterior member that is excellent in strength and cost, and sufficiently ensures a viewing field of sharpness of a thermal image obtained by a far-infrared camera. A vehicular exterior member that includes a light blocking region and is configured to be attached to a vehicle equipped with a far-infrared camera. The vehicular exterior member further includes, in the light blocking region, a far-infrared ray transmitting region having an opening and a far-infrared ray transmitting member disposed in the opening. An average transmittance of far-infrared rays having a wavelength ranging from 8 to 13 μm of the far-infrared ray transmitting member is equal to or larger than 25%. A length of the longest straight line in straight lines connecting any desired two points on a surface on a vehicle exterior side of the far-infrared ray transmitting member is equal to or smaller than 80 mm. A diameter of the largest circle in circles formed in a projected shape obtained by projecting the far-infrared ray transmitting member in an optical axis direction of the far-infrared camera is equal to or larger than 12 mm. An average thickness of the far-infrared ray transmitting member is equal to or larger than 1.5 mm.
